The issue I have with this is it does not talk about carbs the problem with Krispy kreme is the carb content from the flour it's not the sugar Report

Nothing on here I would eat donuts or the alternatives. Label reading will tell you how much sugar is in stuff. I prefer to eat whole foods in their original form, can't beat them. No label reading required. Sugar in any form is bad for you except when contained naturally in whole foods. Sugar feeds cancer. A good thing to eliminate. Report
I wouldn't eat the Krispy Kreme, or the GMO loaded foods you compared them too. However, I am not afraid of sugar. Saying something has "more sugar" doesn't worry me. Report
I think that the article on foods with more sugar than krispy kreme is incredibly misleading. It makes no distinction between good and sugars, it provides absolutely no credible numbers to support what it's saying. This is irresponsible to publish such things with such a poor explanation. Report
I think the Subway sandwich would keep you satisfied longer than a Krispy Kreme donut.

The article beneficial in re-emphasizing the need to read nutrition labels. Awareness is half the battle. Driving by the "Hot" sign is the other half. Report
I think, reading the comments on the article, most readers missed th point entirely. Many of those foods listed live under a "health halo" but are not necessarily health options. Orange juice sure seems like a good option until you realie that it is pretty much sugar water. Odwalla smoothie is organic and well, so what? The bar at the top is still pretty much a candy bar. No one is suggesting that the donut is better for you. Report
The article comparing "healthy" foods with Krispy Kreme donuts and sugar content was enlightening. I've eaten some of the high sugar items--and I'd rather have a Krispy Kreme. The problem is stopping at one.

I agree with the last comment in that the writer is trying to imply that the items listed would be better options than the donut. And yes, it feels patronizing to those of us who want the truth instead of gimmicks and ploys. But we must all know by now how to interpret these articles.

I think the point is, we all need to be in the know. Know what you are putting into your body. The makers and marketers of Subway sandwiches will never imply their product is anything but good for you. Let alone announce that any of their subs contain more sugar than a Krispy Kreme donut. Report
The article about the Krispy Kreme donuts really angered me. These donuts provide no healthy nutritional benefits and yet they are trying to pass it off as better than a Subway Chicken teriyaki sub because it has less sugar.

The Krispy Kreme has 200 cal, 12g fat, 3g sat and 4g trans, 22g of total carbs, 1g fiber and 10g sugar, and only 2g protein.

The chicken teriyaki 6" sub w/o cheese 370 cal, 5g fat, 1.5g sat, 0g trans, 59g total carbs, 4g fiber, 19g sugar and 26g protein

I will take my chances with the higher sugar in the sub.
