I started my journey here on SparkPeople a little over 5 years ago with many fits and starts. I lost a lot of weight in the beginning, which helped to keep me on track, then, I hit the dreaded plateau that I never thought would end. I was gaining and losing the same pounds over and over again. It was so frustrating.

In the beginning the weight loss was easy because my MD helped me switch from ANY drug that had weight-gain as a side effect to other drugs where it wasn't a side effect, or not likely to be a side effect. When we did all that switching around, it really helped. Then I needed to keep my thyroid under control - another weight-gain side effect.

Then, everything just stopped! The scale stopped moving for a long time and I almost gave up. Then I'd lose tenths of a pound here and there, and then gain it all back. I really do owe all of the support to some of the great teams that I belong to - they kept me going. Then it was the same lose a couple, gain a couple - more frustration.

Last week I went on a much-needed vacation. We always go tent-camping at Winter Island in Salem Mass. We walk to just about everywhere. Even though I ate a lot of stuff that was bad for me, we walked so much that I lost a pound (yeah, I weighed myself prior to, just to see). Then today, I just felt like weighing myself again - another pound down!

When I started here, I weighed 196. I rounded it off because I wasn't going to count the tenths of a pound - 'til I hit that plateau. Any ways, today I weighed 166.4! Since I rounded off to begin with, I'm rounding off now and counting it as a THIRTY-POUND WEIGHT LOSS!!! It took me just over 5 years, but I DID IT!!!! So, if I can do it - you can do it!

My Goals:
My goal is to lead a healthier lifestyle. I'd like to exercise more and eat healthier. I'm hoping that SparkPeople can help me achieve my goals.

My Program:
I drink plenty of water every day. The only other drink I have is my cup of tea in the AM.

I wear a pedometer every day to track my steps, miles and calories burned. I record them all here. My new goal is at least 10,000 steps per day.

    I started adding quotes from pinterest in my journals. Soon I figured out that maybe others would enjoy these quotes as well as I do. All my quotes are actually from pinterest. When I see one I like, I save it to my board then pinterest gives me 20 more like it. At first I was writing the quotes from my journal now each day. Now I just go to pinterest and copy one of the quotes I've saved. I don't care if they don't have who said the quotes. I save them to use because they speak to me in some way!

    I'm hoping to clear off my craft table as soon as I'm recovered enough from surgery. I've promised my YDD I'd try to make her a circle skirt (would be my first time ever making one) and it's not going to make itself! Hope your holiday season is going well

    I haven't been crafting at all recently either. I'm hoping that during my recovery time from my surgery Monday I'll be able to crochet some things for my kids that they wanted for this winter. I've got to get my craft table cleaned off first though, so busy weekend of cleaning ahead for me!
