Hi, I'm Claire- I'm 32 years old and have been on SP for about two years to lose about 30lbs. Since joining, I've become a committed runner and am reaching goals I previously thought were unachievable. On Feb. 28th 2010 I ran my first marathon!
I have learned that it's not about perfection but about commitment and being consistent. Sometimes it's 2 steps forward, one back, but progress does come! I still have some weight to lose but I am on my way.

My Goals:
I realized that I need to make some new goals as I have achieved all but 2 of the original 6.
Remaining:
The big goal is to lose 30lbs.
Fit into the little black dress in my closet!
New Goals:
Run a sub 8 minute mile.
Be under 150lbs (no longer 'overweight').
Run a sub-hour 10k.
Pay off last credit card.
Do an unassisted pull up.
Run a 2:20:00 half marathon.
Accomplished:
Run 5 miles without stopping.
(DONE! 4/27/09)
Run a 9 minute mile. (DONE 5/29/09)
Run a competitive race (DONE! 4/18/09)
Pay off 1 credit card
(DONE! 7/13/09)
Take some sort of new fitness class, yoga, etc. (DONE! Yoga for Runners 7/22/09)
Run a sub-1/2 hour 5k. (DONE! 9/27/09)
Run 10 miles in one go.
(DONE! 10/10/09)
Run a 1/2 marathon.
(DONE! 11/8/09)
Run a full marahon.

Get SCUBA certified.

jogging with the dogs, working out at the Y.
Personal Information:
I live in the DC area and I am a museum scientist.
Other Information:
Changes I've made that are helping keep a healthy lifestyle, in no particular order.
* Sitting down and actually eating a substantial breakfast.
* Bringing lunch to work most days.
* Doing more housework
* Yoga nearly every day- even if only 5 minutes.
* Training for a marathon.
* Getting off the metro one stop early and walking a couple times a week.
* Going to bed earlier.
* Trying to get more fiber.
* Really trying to drink more water.
* Cut out sugar from my morning coffee.
* Quit smoking!
* Stopped eating meat (still eating fish).
* Now eating a nearly completely vegetarian diet and am experimenting with veganism.

I'm signed up for the "Go Fourth 8k" in DC on the 4th of July but it depends on my foot whether I'll actually do it.
