HI ~ Welcome to my SparkPage! My highest weight was 307 pounds. I'm discovering what works for me ~ absorbing what is helpful and getting rid of what doesn't.

My name is Teresa or T. Eating within a window of time has resulted in weight loss and getting off of insulin (150 units daily to NONE)! I started with 16:8 (eating within an 8 hour time), then changed to 20:4 (eating within 4 hours), eventually to 23:1 (eating OMAD ~ One Meal A Day or some people call a 24 hour fast). I never thought I could do it! I'm trying to eat once or twice a day.

During the non-eating time; I started by having coffee (with butter, MCT Oil, which is a type of coconut oil, and heavy whipping cream ~ also known as bulletproof coffee), tea, and lots of water! Now I have water, Powerade Zero (electrolytes) or Bang.

The 2 books: The Diabetes Code or The Obesity Code both explain why this works! It's about IR (Insulin Risistance). Dr. Fung has many YouTube video's too! I've read The Ketogenic Bible, Keto Clarity, The Complete Guide to Fasting, Keto by Craig & Maria.

The Ketogenic way of eating is low carb, moderate protein, and high healthy fats. I can't believe I can do it! This too has also resulted in wt loss and The Ketogenic Bible and KetoCure Book both explain the benefits of this way of eating in relation to all kinds of diseases: cancer, Alzhemiers, and so many more.

7 Daily Tasks
1. Motivation: Read my long list of why I'm doing this (all the details in my Blog Section)
2. Exercise: do something everyday: We are building a house so lots of exercise and Oxycise - breathing!
3. Accountability: daily post victories, struggles, share & care in my families Facebook Group. Scarlet Dragons Biggest Loser Weight Loss group.
4. Tracking: carbs, protein, fat, water, and measurements
5. Water: strive for 12 to 16 glasses a day
6. Reflect: what went well, what to fix, celebrate victories
7. Prepare: what do I need to do to be ready for tomorrow?
*Doing these 7 daily tasks will cause me to reach my overall lifestyle and weight goals!

I've moved from a couch potato to an almost daily exerciser and from an eating style of mostly sugar and bread to making healthier eating choices. I don't want to carry around an extra 170 pounds every second of every day any more!

~What I put in is what I get out so take responsibility and make the effort because I am worth it!
~Don't look in the rear view mirror ~ keep eyes straight ahead
~What my eyes are focused on is what I will move toward so see myself at the goal and drive forward!
~May my goals outweigh my momentary satisfactions
~Think ~ will this get me to my goals?
~Be committed, do what it takes, accomplish what I want
~Think ~ This is working, I CAN do it, I'm making progress
~I'm proud of myself
~Goals without actions are worthless - move it!
~Pay attention: become an expert on me: what works for ME?
~Time will keep going- whether I move toward my goals or not!
~No one can do it for me and no one can "make" me do it!

Do what it takes to have what I want! Have emotional reasons why I absolutely MUST do this! This is for me! This is the new me! This is my year! Choose to change now! Believe in myself ~ I can do anything I want to do, anything I put my mind to! I can be whatever I want to be! How do I want to look? How do I want to feel? I'm stronger than I think I am ~ my body is getting stronger not fatter. I want a muscular body, I am in training, Celebrate successes, big and small - write them down! I have everything I need! My mind will make my body go!

For a long time, I've been frustrated with adding recipes because of having to put in decimals instead of fractions. Example .03 instead of 1/3 cup. Finally I figured it out. Go to SparkRecipes, click my recipes, click add a recipe, in step 1 type in ingredients (this is where you have to use what is available - like .03), after adding each ingredient - make sure to enter the servings and click "calculate info", click next - this is step 2. In the ingredients list box... this is where to re-type .03 to 1/3 and change the order of ingredients by re-typing them etc. Continue recipe details until done (when ready click next - now on step 3) etc etc.

May 29 Striving for IF 23:1, under 20 carbs, under 40 protein, 60% or more fat from daily calories
June 15, 2018 started Facebook Group as requested for our family on fasting and keto
Dec 13, 2018 Off of diabetic medication (maximum amount of Metformin) now NO diabetic medications - YEAH!
September 2019 Lots of up's, down's, and all arounds. Time to re-focus.

My Goals:
My goals are to be a daily exerciser and weigh 140 then decide how much more to lose, perhaps weigh 135 or 130


My Program:
After reading Diabetes Code by Dr. Fung April 2018 ~ I have changed my program! I recommend watching his YouTube videos and/or read the book to everyone! Now I eat LCHF ~ Low Carb Healthy Fats diet. Everyday I've been able to lower the amount of insulin I'm taking and fully expect to not need any more insulin or Metformin eventually. I can't believe how easy this is! I test my blood sugar throughout the fasting time (haven't had any low 70 or under readings), no side effects, I feel great and I'm losing weight! I am now completely off insulin - woo hoo!



Personal Information:
I was active until graduating high school then just stopped being so active, lots of sitting putting more and more weight on ~ now it is 37 years later and I'm over 300 pounds! I feel very very VERY fortunate that I don't have any physical reasons that limit or restrict me exercising. I'm striving to move my body everyday - little by little become an active person again. Build endurance. Someone who is able to stand (without needing to sit down in 5 minutes like I do currently), able to walk (walk with friends - shop - walk golf course with husband golfing), able to play a volleyball game or other fun activities.


Other Information:
There are 3 reasons why I'm doing this:

1. All the things I can't do because I'm so overweight (all the details in my Blog Section)

2. All the things I can do but it would be so much easier without carrying around an extra 170 pounds every second of everyday (all the details in my Blog Section)

3. To prolong or avoid future health problems from being overweight which would effect my quality of life: hip/knee/back problems, kidney/heart/liver/eye problems, becoming less active or inactive (all the details in my Blog Section)

Making it work for me ~ absorb what is helpful, forget what is not helpful, continue to make changes, plan then follow the plan: take action, Everyday move closer to my goals. Put the TIME in DAILY because I AM WORTH THE EFFORT!
