    Hi Sam,
I'm also so disappointed that I had to go back to the beginning...only doing track intervals twice a week now, barefoot. Each session is less than 4kms so I'm WAY behind you :-)
I've taken up trail running which involved a lot of walking/hiking and is still a good workout...it's kinder on the legs than road running and until I get over this injury I need to find creative ways to keep moving.
I'm registering today for Walk the Talk...th 15km, so let's make a plan to join up and do it together. I'd love that!
I'm back to calorie tracking today, gained 6kgs...aaarrrggghh! but I've set my target date for goal weight at 1 September. It's gonna be tough but it's time to do it!

Half IM was good experience, it was pancake flat, though.
    Switzerland will be HILLY.
Had a terrible century last week, came in after they actually closed down and removed the way markers, got a DNF...
3 more centuries to go, let's hope this week's will be better.
It'll be almost as hilly as race day, I'm excited, I need to do 22.5kph average with stops and all included. Hmmm.
I don't run at all, I'm too tired for that. It proved to be too big a goal for me :(
Most probably I won't make the bike cut off.

Weight is still constant, without paying attention.
Actually I usually do stuff myself to have the cals in.
I'll get into trouble after IM for sure but I'll take care of it then.

Way to go. Nice to see your new goals.

Many thanks, Sam, you're very kind.
So you have a fab bike and can actually swim. Hmmmm.

I've found swimming awesome after I conquered the initial difficulty,
a never ending ear problem with an ta-ta-ta: earplug.
I do much less on my own compared to a training session.
Master swimming is great here in the UK. It's at night, I never miss a session, it's tough, it's fun, love it.
Swimming definitely helped me with cardiovascular fitness without the pounding, less injury, well, apart from shoulders. At first I needed to learn the front crawl, it took some time... It's all about technique.
But now I'm still gasping for air when I get home - I get so deep tired from it. I don't get this hard a workout from running or cycling,
esp. not after only one hour.
I don't blog about swimming, because I have no problem with it.
But before this IM thing I did swim 4x a week. Now it's only 2 times. I miss it.
    And I got slower, too.

45 min doesn't sound good for you, I agree.
You must have almost completely stopped running.
Never mind. Just take care with injuries, handle yourself as a beginner.
Do not up your mileage, just go for a short(!) run
3-4 times a week. Shorter than 5k at first. Enjoy.
Do not compare to last year. Compare to last week/month.
    But you know all these.

    I have a trainer but I don't use it a lot, I don't push myself on it.
Watching the Tour on a trainer, that's a good idea.
It'll be after my race, but next year I'll remember this.

My 9 year old runs well, outruns me on short distances
however hard I push myself. Can persuade 7yo to run for around 5 minutes, which is good for him. If I put on a sport bra (or two) before going to a park, we can actually run together now with me getting tired while 5yo takes care of 2yo.

    Nutrition, nutrition. Most important.

When you do get back to a reasonable level, try to find another running club. This one you didn't enjoy enough to run with them regularly.
Maybe there's one that has at least 2 weekly runs you can join.
If you enjoy running with them you wouldn't miss a session and it's safe.
(I haven't found a group like this but you still can)
