I'm 23, a college student, work for a major computer corporation's retail division, web designer, alumni sister of a service sorority, and all-around nice person.

I've struggled with my weight for a decade now (since I was 13), and while I've tried numerous ways to get the weight off (and keep it off), all have failed, leaving me stranded just pounds below my highest weight ever.

Why am I doing this? I want to be healthy. I have bad ankles that have limited my physical activity since I was 13 (hence the sudden weight gain that year) and want to reduce the pain in those. I want to look like the person I am inside, and I won't stop until my inner self matches my outer self. I don't like being shunned, looked down upon, or ignored because of my weight.

This journey starts now.

My starting weight is 250lbs. I'll post dates when I reach each of my short-term goals. :)

My short-term goals:
220 (highest weight in high school): 8/22/09
196 (lowest weight in high school):
175-180 (my best guy friend's weight):
167 (my lowest weight in college):
140 (my ultimate goal weight):

I decided when my birthday came along this year that I'm going to train for a full marathon (26.2 miles) by my 24th birthday. I started walking on a regular basis this summer for a work challenge, and now I'm working to up my jogging distance a little at a time. One day, I'll be able to run the full 26.2 miles. :)

My Goals:
Get to my goal weight of 140 or a size 8, whichever comes first.
Be more assertive.
Be happy with myself.
Finish college.
Train for and run a marathon.

My Program:
Eating a 40%protein/30%carbs/30%fat ratio.
Trying to follow the South Beach Diet.
Working out as much as possible (time permitting).

Personal Information:
I was born in Southern California (Pomona, to be exact), raised in that area until I was 10, moved to the Central Valley (Visalia), lived there full-time until I went to college in Fresno, and now I claim Fresno as my home.

Other Information:
I love the Ender series by Orson Scott Card. They're my absolute favorite! :D

    Welcome to Smart Carbing!! We are really happy that you joined us. We are a very friendly group and have many successful and knowledgeable members. Our members are on all kinds of plans such as Atkins, South Beach, Protein Power, Low Glycemic. etc. What we share in common is a desire to eat high quality carbs and leave behind the processed sugary ones that cause medical problems and obesity.
