Losing 4 Good!
12-28-12
2012 is coming to a close and 2013 is right around the corner. I decided it was time to start thinking about what goals I want to accomplish in 2013. My number one goal is to lose weight and get to my goal weight this year and stay at my goal weight. Will it be easy, NO! Will it be worth it, YES! I plan on reaching my goal by eating clean and following the Paleo eating lifestyle as much as possible, doing Crossfit workouts at least 2 times a week, running 2-3 times a week, ...

I plan on reaching my goal by eating clean and following the Paleo eating lifestyle as much as possible, doing Crossfit workouts at least 2 times a week, running 2-3 times a week, and by getting support from family and friends (here on Spark and in real life). Once I get to my goal of 170 pounds I will decide if I want to lose more or maintain at 170.
Starting Weight: January 1, 195 pounds
Goal Weight: May 31, 170 pounds
I also plan to run/walk/cycle at least 1,000 miles in 2013 as well as complete several 5K's, 10K's, and half marathons.
Racing Schedule (as of now, but it will change over time):
4-7-13: Go! St. Louis Half Marathon - St. Louis, MO
5-5-13: Flying Pig Half Marathon - Cincinnati, OH
11-17-13: Vegas Strip at Night Half Marathon - Las Vegas, NV
I want to break 35 minutes on a 5K and break 3 hours for a half marathon. This means that I will need to run and include speed work!!!! I also want to increase my strength and tone up which will be accomplished through Crossfit. I will need to challenge myself during my workouts to do more than I think I can so I will see the results I want.
I declare 2013 to be the year I reach my initial weight loss goal of 170 pounds!!!!

I was looking over my weight loss history this evening and I think for the first time I actually realized that my weight loss goal can be a reality. Up until this point my goal has seemed so far away and just seemed like some number out there that I hope to achieve. Now I really believe that I can achieve it and it is closer than it seems. If we believe it we can achieve it. I do believe I can reach my goal and I will achieve it!

I enjoyed my time at the Island Get-A-Weigh between biggest loser rounds. However, it is now time to get down to work again and start the biggest loser challenge round 15 (BLC15).
12-20-10
I am spending my December and Christmas break at the Island Get-A-Weigh. I am there to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery and I am spending time in the LUANA OLA HOU (Relax and Revive) hut. I have been hiking volcanoes, climbing the Stairway to Heaven, drinking the lagoon dry, and lots of other fitness and fun activities. We have even had a few water fights along the way and pushed some people in the ocean. There is a drink special (a healthy drink of course) everyday. Some of the drinks have been great. I don't think there is anything better though than getting a nice massage under the stars by the ocean with the gentle warm breeze blowing on you. I wish you all could have joined me. We are having a great time!
View my photo gallery for a few more pictures from my Island Get-A-Weigh and enjoy your stay here with me. Although this was all virtual it was still a lot of fun.
If you haven't signed up yet for the Biggest Loser 15 (BLC15) challenge team then why not do so right now. Then you can join in on all of the fun.

I am on a journey to lose weight, get in shape, and get to my goal weight. I have been on this journey since about March of 2008 and it has been a long, slow process. However, the weight I have lost over the past year and a half I have kept off. I am hoping to be at my initial goal weight by the end of August, 2010. Once I get to that weight then I will decide if I want to lose more weight or maintain that weight.
5K results 2009:
FCA/Thorco 5K walk - August, 2009:
My time was right around 45:00 - I took first place in the walk in my age group. This was before I was on SparkPeople.
5K results 2010:
Luck of the Irish 5K walk - Saturday, March 13, 2010: 47:39 (PR - walking) - 15:29 minutes/per mile pace. Very hilly and difficult.
Hope for Haiti 5K run - Saturday, April 24, 2010: 42:30 - 13:65 minutes/per mile pace. Mostly flat, with small inclines.
Father's Day 5K run - Saturday, June 19, 2010: 38:25 - 12:34 minutes/per mile pace. Flat course, no shade, very hot.
Capital Soccer Club 5K run - Saturday, July 31, 2010: 39:27 - 12:67 minutes/per mile pace. Same course as the Father's Day 5K. It was once again very hot and humid.
Haley's Hope, March of Dime 5K run - Saturday, August 14, 2010: very hot and hilly.
MOPS 5K run - Saturday, August 21, 2010: very hot. It was a fun point to point run.
FCA/Thorca 5K run - Saturday, August 28, 2010: 37:03 - 11:95 minutes/per mile pace. The course is very flat with only one or two slight inclines. It was a very nice 65 degrees at start time and a perfect day for running.
Relay for Life 5K run - Saturday, October 30, 2010: 35:23 (PR - running) - 11:36 minutes/per mile pace. The course was mostly flat with a couple of nice down hill segments and one good uphill segment. It was a chilly morning with temps around 45 degrees at start time. It wasn't too bad though once we got started.
Jingle Bell 5K for the Arthritis Foundation - Saturday, December 4, 2010: 36:15 - 11:66 minutes/per mile pace. The course was mostly flat with a few small hills. It was a very cold and windy morning with winds blowing out of the North/Northwest. It was about 32 degrees at start time. Maybe it it hadn't been so cold and windy I might have gotten a new PR. It was definitely the coldest run I have ever done.
10K results 2010:
Roots 'N Blues 'N BBQ 10K run - Saturday, October, 2, 2010: 1:14:31 (PR - 10K) - 12:02 minutes/per mile pace. The course was mostly flat but did have one really good down hill spot and a couple of hills. The course went through downtown Columbia, onto the MIZZOU campus and then onto the MKT trail. It was a very chilly and windy 45 degrees at start time but mostly a perfect day for running.
