This quote has really helped me on my journey!
"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired. When you were younger the mind could make... you dance all night, and the body was never tired...You've always got to make the mind take over and keep going."
- George S. Patton, U.S. Army General & 1912 Olympian

Time for some more mini-goals! i've forgotten that this was on my page! So, here goes:

175: Pedicure! (badly needed) [goal achieved]
170: Massage with my hubby [goal achieved]
165: New Jeans [goal achieved 12/15/09]
160: Boots! [goal achieved: January 2010]

12/26/09 new goals
150: ULTIMATE GOAL: My hubby is going to buy me an SLR camera!
145: (just recently decided to see if I can get here)

I've had a few people ask me how I've gotten to where I am. Well, here goes!

Really, I've just been consistent with exercise (I do at least 5 days of cardio a week and 3 of strength training) and, as much as possible, lower my portion size by at least 25%. It has been a rough journey, but one well worth it! I feel so much better now that I've lost 55 lbs!

If I had any advice this would be it:
1) don't skimp on strength training. I had to force myself to do it because I hated it so, but once I did, I started consistently losing.

2) Use the 80 /20 rule: be good 80% of the time (ie, exercise and eat good-for-you foods). The other 20% of the time you can endulge. This has saved me! I am in a love affair with chocolate, therefore I could not just dump him on the side of the road. 80/20 saves me!

3) When you fall off the wagon and finally realize it, jump back on as soon as you figure it out! And don't be discouraged. Everyone falls off the wagon. I've done it multiple times of multiple times.

4) Get active. When I started this journey I realized I did a lot of sitting in front of my tv. While my house wasn't what you'd call a pig sty, it wasn't nearly as clean as it should have been. Now, everyday, I'm doing chores again. Anything from laundry to dishes to sweeping to vacuuming. I'm more active now because of it and my house looks great!

5) Push yourself to try new things. Haven't tried the pull-up machine at the gym? Do it! Never swam laps before? Get out there and try it. Your muscles get "confused" when you try new things, so you've got to keep doing it! Confused muscles is a good thing!

Hope this helps! I know it's easy to get discouraged. I've been there before, but know that you can do it! The weight won't start falling off immediately; you must be patient and keep going when you think you don't have it in you anymore. Eventually, you will reap the rewards of 5, 10, 20, 30 pounds down.

In the sweet words of Dori from "Finding Nemo": "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!"

emoticon Happy Birthday, DONE GIRL emoticon

The Capricorn child must be "old when young" as this child has a lot of responsibility given to her, so she has little time to play and "be a silly kid." She can have headaches and knee issues and must learn how to deal with stress. Dolly Parton is a Capricorn woman, who had 4 older brothers who didn't do a lick of work in the house, so she did it all and dealt with 7 younger siblings. She loved make-up and clothes since her mother tried to make her hid her beauty looks. Capricorn often has such a restricted childhood.
She gets along well with Pisces, Taurus, Cancer, Virgo and sometimes Scorpio (who MUST run any relationship, but Cappy doesn't like that). Capicorn has the most self-discipline of any sign and therefore what she does with her life is ALL UP TO HER and she can't blame it on anyone else. She makes a great businesswoman and she can work long hours. She's frugal with money and can be a wealthy woman. She can "marry for money" and make it work, since she loves being with a powerful man. Even if she lives in a poor cabin in the woods, she will make it a "rich" home.
The symbol of Capricorn is the Goat. Capricorn is associated with the harshness of winter and its stark realities.
In Capricorn, the Sun is strongly goal-directed and persistent. Ambitious, serious and dedicated to duty, life is difficult, but you are the type of person who will triumph and achieve success. Your aptitude to persevere, no matter how difficult the road, sets you apart from most of your peers. You are anxious to climb the ladder of fortune, and you can usually reach your goals because of your sense of the right way of doing everything. Your patience is never ending.
You are a very thoughtful and serious person, thinking everything through carefully before you set off in any direction. You possess excellent reasoning skills, and you can be counted on to select options that are both practical and that provide an economic advantage. Your attitude is conservative; conservative with time, money, and all other resources. Your philosophy is waste not, want not. You are also likely to be conservative in your political and social attitudes, although your age, upbringing, and education perspectives may influence this somewhat.
You are especially well suited to business and government because of your sense of organization and structure. You combine a talent for management with an ability to carry out instructions with care. You are the quintessential careerist, taking job and duties very seriously. Therefore, you are never one to shirk responsibility and you have very little use for those that do. That which matters most to you is your public image. You show your best face to the public. You enjoy being in a position of power and authority, although you are not very much inclined to enjoy the limelight. You may prefer instead to run your business from an isolated perspective. You are loyal and dedicated, and you demand utter loyalty and dedication from subordinates. Advancing up the ladder of success is all important. You are unconcerned about, sometimes even ruthless toward, those getting in your path as you move upward.

You don't handle chaotic situations very well. You may need to develop the ability to lighten up a little and not take life, and everything else so seriously. Although you are self-disciplined, responsible, and practical, at times you can wallow in self-pity. It's essential for you to remember that your most important asset is self-esteem, and you should never devalue this. Rigidity and fear of change may be your biggest stumbling block.
Sober and reserved in your dealings with others, it takes you a good while to warm up enough to anyone to be considered a close friend. Yet once you do, you are a very caring, reliable, and most steadfast ally. Your private side is different from your public side. In private you are shy and sensitive. The harshness of your public image disappears. Emotionally demanding relationships are very difficult. Love relationships may be more like business relationships, and you are unsure of yourself in most intimate situations.
