Introduction Text I'm 60 years old and I have been carrying around 50+\ - lbs. for 30+ years. 30 years of failed diets, guilt, depression, and hating myself. I hope that SPARKPEOPLE will motivate me to finally lose the weight and maybe even get rid of my prescriptions.

Since I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 in June 2011, I need to focus on my diet more. I need to lose weight now more than ever. Along with losing weight, I'd like to lower my blood pressure and lower my bad cholesterol.

I don't like to exercise, but walking and gardening are OK.

I was born and raised in Maryland, but moved to West Virginia 5 years ago.

I have a lot of interests...sewing, quilting, tole-painting, refinishing furniture, stained-glass, gardening, reading, cooking, geneology, crossword puzzles...I'm sure I've left out something. I don't like regular store shopping like I used to. Instead, I'd rather go to garage/yard sales, flea markets and Goodwill. I love finding treasures for a little bit of money!!
