Hi! I'm Barb. Although I am originally from New England, I have been living in southeast Michigan for several years where I work as a contractor in the auto industry. A couple of years ago, I had dropped a little over 30 pounds using Sparkpeople but then had a serious car accident. Unfortunately that 30 pounds came back while I was recovering and I am still struggling to get back on track to a healthier me.

Unfortunately that 30 pounds came back while I was recovering and I am still struggling to get back on track to a healthier me.
In late June, 2020, I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinomas which is a form of skin cancer. This has been a huge wake-up call for me to really commit to living a healthy life style including consistently wearing sun screen.

My Goals:
Long Term Goal: 145 pounds - BMI threshold weight between being overweight and healthy for my height
Mid Term Goal: 174 pounds - BMI threshold weight between being obese and overweight for my height
Short Term Goal: Losing the next 10 pounds.
My Program:
Diet:
I am using the Sparkpeople nutritional guidelines using foods with ingredient lists that look like a recipe I could make in my kitchen (avoiding processed foods). I am also trying to cut back on my sugar intake.
Goal: Maintain a daily calorie range of 1200-1550
Exercise
Goal: Get a minimum of 60 minutes of intentional exercise daily
Goal: 12,000 steps a day (app 5 mile, for me)
Sleep
Goal: Get a minimum of 6 hours of sleep per night.
