I need to lose weight for my health and for my own personal well being. I have been battling this for over 20 years and it doesn't get any easier the older you get. I have found success many times but I have yet to find the routine that keeps me on the right track. I am a bad yo-yo person. I am not ruling out the option of gastric bypass surgery however I have yet to find the true push to make me do it. I welcome all comments and help.

I am also happy to report that I am connecting with some really strong willed people that want to help and that has to be a blessing from God. I need all the help I can get and it is wonderful to have a set of friends that support me whether I do good or bad. SparkPeople is changing my life. Is it changing yours?

My Goals:
I have failed in my goal to lose 50 pounds by April 15, 2008! I did lose but it was far from 50. I also have recently starting exercising daily. I have learned it doesn't have to be overwhelming it just has to be consistant.

My overall goal is to do this myself and not have gastric bypass surgery. I have been approved but to be honest I am scared. If I could lose the weight I wouldn't even have to consider the surgery. I have to do something! What will it be? I still haven't made that choice. I am not pushing the subject. One day at a time!

My Program:
At this time I am just trying to change small things. Example: drinking more water through out the day and changing snack choices.
I truly do not have a program. Suggestions welcome! I eat a lot less fat and eat a lot more fruits and veggies. When eating out I cut my meal in half and eat the other half for lunch the next day.

Personal Information:
I am from a little town in North Carolina called Pittsboro. Email me at or just talk with me through sparkpeople.
I am 39 years old, married 19 years with two daughters. My husband and I are the best of friends. My girls are growing by leaps and bounds. They are 11 and 14. I want to live to see them grow up. I want to live my life to the fullest but my body is saying STOP! I don't want surgery but, I don't want to live life sitting back either. HELP!

Other Information:
My favorite phrase is "Let go and let God"!
Funny how I don't live by what I preach.

I love myself no matter what the weight even though I am at a weight that isn't pleasing to me and I pray that one day I get back to living life to the fullest like the person I used to be. If it weren't for my doctor prescribing meds for me I wouldn't get up and do anything. Please help me help myself. I do not know what the future holds but I do know I want to lose weight so I can lose the other person within myself.

Ha!! I will certainly be honest!! Thanks for adding me as a friend. My major factors are strengthening my mind, dealing with emotions, and starting to have a regular schedule (so that I don't let myself get really hungry.. because then its over!!). Drop by any time you need a laugh... I refuse to be miserable with this.. done that too long. I'm also back and forth on the meat issue, I don't think its the time for me yet. I've been craving it for 2 weeks, to give you perspective I usually get these once every few months, and it lasts a day or two. I'll try to keep listening to my body. What are your thoughts on it? I couldn't finish Skinny B*, it was too cruel!! But, I knew they were right on some things.. so definitely let me know what you learn. Lastly, as a verified sugar addict, I am rereading the Sugar Addicts Total Recovery Program.

Keep me posted, try to keep perspective.. this is about enjoying our lives to the fullest ;)

Hi, I saw your response about desk jobs. I am also from NC. I live in Concord. My son is 13 so I can relate! Good luck with the weight loss. If I can ever get rid of this extra twenty pounds I will be so happy. I think I was born twenty pounds overweight:)
