    Hi! We sound very similar in our goals and attitude. I also usually keep my goals to myself. I usually do this for two reasons. One is because I don't want people to think I'm a failure if I don't follow through. Another is because I want to prove I can do it and have people be surprised when they see the difference. Spark helps me share my experiences with people I don't really know, so it's nice to be able to talk about progress and pitfalls.

    I weighed 157 pounds when I was 9 months pregnant and now I'm at 141. If I continued eating like I was, I would have ended up weighing that much again! I not only want to be healthy, but I want to wear clothes without feeling frumpy and uncomfortable. I want my confidence back.

    I am a very picky eater so my food routine stays about the same. I eat a mixture of the foods I like and make sure to fit in exercise everyday. I love walking and am able to do that indoors while my daughter practices softball. Right now I can't walk outside much because of all the cold and snow. Right now we have about 6 inches of snow and it's only 12 degrees outside. I ride my stationary bike while watching TV and I also bought a game for my Wii that I love. It lets you choose a personal trainer and takes you through your exercises each day. I give myself one cheat meal on Saturdays or whatever day I know I won't be able to be home to prepare my food.

    Sorry for writing so much, but like you said it's nice to share during our journey. I hope you are doing well and would love to hear how you are doing.

    Hi Rebecca! SP is helping me to be accountable too! I am logging everything I eat and drink. I've been following the suggested meal plans and SP recipes. I read somewhere here on SP that those who log their food daily are able to lose more - in my experience, I do believe that's true.

    I am usually one to keep my fitness goals to myself, but I realize it was only setting me up for failure. I definitely need the support and motivation of the community here.

    In my 20s, I was able to eat whatever I wanted and not have too much trouble dropping it when I wanted to. Now in my 30s, I realize my body is changing and needs more effort on my part to stay fit and healthy. I've acknowledged and accepted, and I know I cannot do it alone.

    I like your attitude of "one day at a time". I too tend to get discouraged if there's little to no results after a short time. I like to know that I'm making progress.

    I enjoy walking, but I found that staying in my work boots or a regular pair of shoes wasn't helping me to get or stay motivated. I now have a new pair of sneakers and I wear a pedometer while I walk (sometimes just around the block for 15 minutes; sometimes for a longer walk up to an hour). I love the iheartradio app on my phone - I turn it on without headphones and listen while I walk. :0)
