I've been on Spark People on and off for a while. I'm 63 and lost about 40 pounds in the past 2 years by decreasing my carbs and snacking less (and Weight Watchers). I've recently gained back about 20 pounds so I'm back to finding motivation and bettering my health. I love to do activities with my dogs (two pugs). I also love to read and tap dance, and travel and hike. I am semi-retired and am trying to eat a mostly plant-based diet.
I'm no longer counting calories or points - I'm just trying to eat more plant-based foods when hungry and limiting my after-dinner snacking.
I am currently going through a divorce and so am dealing with the challenge of being newly single after a long marriage. I am very grateful for all of the support that I have recently received.

My Goals:
In addition to losing weight, I am trying to become more flexible and more energetic. I'm also trying to make better food choices when in situations I can't control. I'm planning to add more weight training and strength training to my program.


My Program:
I'm eating a healthy diet of mostly plant-based foods and limited fats and increasing my water consumption



Personal Information:
I live in Pennsylvania and have two grown married children and two grandsons. I am currently going through an amicable divorce after a long marriage and am dealing with being newly single. I have an 8 year old pug and a one year old very active pug with whom I do obedience and agility training. I also work 1-3 days a week.


Other Information:
I also love reading, tap dancing and riding on a tandem recumbent bicycle with my husband. I am currently learning how to cook - with an emphasis on plant-based foods.

    So many do eat because of stress, anxiety or boredom so it's great you have that under control. I think I mostly ate too much because I just plain like to eat. My mouth always wants more, and I do my best to ignore the cravings. You've got a good routine going, one you can do the rest of your life - the ultimate goal! Too bad about the dancing, but your dogs love those walks, I'm sure.

    WOW Jersey girl!! We enjoyed a week every summer down at Pt. Pleasant with our boys. What a fun time. Now that they are older they do their own thing. Every year we have to visit the Jersey shore. It is just in me. Now I am content enjoying our lake. Anything to do with water I am in my happy zone!! Hugs, emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Hey! Nice! I had a few friends from down that way. I also spent lots of time down at Point Pleasant over the summers, and I remember Hoffmans! Actually, once in the mid-90s, I also sang back-up vocals on a Jenkinson's radio commercial.
