Hi everyone! My name is Kari and I am a 44 year old mother of two. My oldest is 20 and youngest 3. I need to get back to a healthy bmi so I can keep up with them! I was always thin in school and then in my 20s something happened and I steadily gained about 60 lbs over the years. I just don't do well with diets but I'm willing to try ANYTHING to get healthier!!!! Stay tuned!

My Goals:
September goals:

Drink water every day.

Practice mindful eating every day.

Eat nothing but veges, fruits or seeds after 8 pm!

Baby steps, baby steps, baby steps...........

My Program:
9-2-11: Basically starting over - I want to concentrate on doing some kind of exercise for 30 minutes per day.

Also strength training 2 x per week.

Right now I am trying very hard to just stay within my calorie/fat/carb/protein ranges on a daily basis.

7-12-10: I have also started to exercise for at least 15 minutes a day.

10-1-10: I am now stepping it up a bit and trying very hard to do some type of cardio for 1/2 hour per day, usually walking and also doing situps daily depending on how many points the packers put on the board!

10-13-10: Starting the C25K program - wish me luck! (couldn't continue due to old injury

11-25-10: Doing strength training video 3x week.

11-30-10: Revamping my eating since it seems to be NOT WORKING too well and following Sherlyn's diet plan with no sugar, no flour.

12-3-10: Starting the 5% weight loss challenge tomorrow. GO CARE BEARS!

So good to see you back!

I'm a planner so I work well with planning out my schedule. I'm also pretty flexible with it. For instance, I was sick yesterday so I couldnt get my run or strength training in. Instead, I'll do it when I get home tonight since I had planned a rest day anyways. I think that as long as you are honest with what you are capable of and allow yourself to have free days or rest days, the scheduling systems works. I also try to post it online or around my apartment so I stay accountable. Helps when other people can look at you and say "Hey, you're supposed to lift weights tonight!"

As for meal planning, I meal plan only my dinner and snacks and then I try to eat dinner leftovers or simple sandwiches with apple sauce, a cheese stick, and a fruit for lunch and a smoothie for breakfast. I make the plan the night of my grocery shopping (usually Sunday) with a shopping list so I am not tempted to go off the list. It actually saves me money. Instead of buying a whole bunch of random stuff, I only sepnd money on things I need. And I do buy some quick options for days where I am sick or tired (like frozen pastas, pre-made dinners, etc.).

    Hope this helps!

The tragedy in life doesn't lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.

May your joys be as bright as the morning,

And your sorrows merely be shadows that fade,

    In the sunlight of love.

May you have enough happiness to keep you sweet.

Enough trials to keep you strong.

Enough sorrows to keep you human.

Enough hope to keep you happy.

Enough failure to keep you humble.

Enough success to keep you eager.

Enough friends to give you comfort.

Enough faith and courage in yourself to banish sadness.

Enough wealth to meet your needs.

And one thing more: enough determination to make each day a more wonderful day than the day before.

May you have the hindsight to know where you've been
the foresight to know where you're going
and the insight to know when you're going too far.

I believe waiting is not an option but persisting with patience is rather better.
