Proud mother of two wonderful grown children ( 23 &21). Trying to become healthier and teach by example, plus going to school for nursing has made even me more aware of my unhealthy lifestyle. I quit smoking in November, so now time to focus on other aspects of my life, especially now that I've been diagnosed with hypertension and pure hypercholesterolemia (basically familial history of high cholesterol). My doctor said my "bad" cholesterol is too high and my "good" cholesterol is too low. And last but not least my gradual increase in weight over the last 12 years has officially "pushed" me into the obese classification, which is simply intolerable! Having hyperthyroidism until it was corrected at age 24, I have never had problems with my weight....until at around 35 (2008) I started to become overweight. Up until then, from 24-35, I gained weight from 110 on my 5'6" frame to 130 which I held until I hit my upper threshold of 140 at 35, but the weight sneaks up so slowly it almost becomes acceptable. Well, not anymore! It might take me a while but I hope to adopt a heathier lifestyle, not just lose weight. The hardest thing will be getting in some exercise, something I haven't had much time for in a while. That and losing my junk food (bye little debbie) But I want to be a healthy grandma, when it becomes my turn to be one, (like in 20 years) ;) Never Quit Pledge Saturday, June 30, 2012 Taken from BBonet's blog Please respond that you want your name added to the bottom of the list. Never Quit Pledge Today, I promise I will not quit. I pledge that no matter, how many ups and downs I pass through, I will continue on my journey. I pledge to make a NEW START today, and forgive myself for my past, and to stop being so critical of myself. I pledge to take control of myself, to stop making excuses, and stop blaming other people or situations. I pledge to treat myself as I would my best friend, because that is who I am. I pledge to stay in the race and to be a WINNER!
