I am a native of Chicago who has lived in Southern New Jersey for many many that I almost feel like a native, although I grew up in the Midwest.

I am now retired after three careers as newspaper reporter, English teacher and owner of a small graphic arts/writing business. I am now pretty much relegated to home in Millville (albeit a lovely one, in the woods). I also recently bought a condo in Ocean City, N.J., and am looking forward to spending time there this summer.

I now must report that I lost my husband of 50-plus years last November, 2016. He had been suffering from Alzheimer's and a variety of physical ailments...a stroke finally did him in. He had been staying at a "memory care" facility but spent his last days at a hospital and then went to hospice, where he stayed only a day before the end came.

I am now trying to keep as busy as possible as I adjust to life alone. I keep thinking of the good times and miss him a lot. But life must go on and I must learn to accept whatever fate decrees.

My Goals:
To maintain my weight and continue a healthy lifestyle that includes daily exercise, the fountain of youth! Also have been following a modified vegetarian diet for many years (no meat or poultry) in recognition of my compassion for all animals.

My Program:
 Limiting carbs and portions
Striving for exercise 5 days a week: aerobics, walking/running, weight training, spinning.

Personal Information:
I grew up in Chicago, moved to Pittsburgh as a senior in high school and came to South Jersey after graduating from Penn State's School of Journalism. Have been here ever since!

As you might tell from some of my photos, I am an animal lover and presently have two dogs and one cat. Lost my other cat last summer due to a mysterious ailment but happy to still have Callie, the calico.

Other Information:
I try to stay busy and focused and keep a positive outlook on everything. Sometimes it's difficult, but usually I succeed.

Carol I have no word program on my computer. I tried a thing called one note and it is way too complicated. Now I found notebook but it too just blows away if I try to cut and paste. I am having my son to work on the mouse settings. He thinks it might help. Pat in Maine.

Carole I sent a message today and I went to your page and it is gone.
I just wanted to say there were 2 husbands with us an both said they liked the movie. My DH has eye issues now. He has macular degeneration.
I do the long distance driving now and we are trying to find his peripheral vision. He is not wanting to go places but once he gets there he has a good time. I have to keep looking or things to do and those recliners he really enjoys so we do o often. Senior rates as well. Thanks for the comment Pat in Maine.
Some day I will go to New Jersey I want to see her light houses and the huge sand beaches. Take care. Glad you commented Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon
