If they gave a prize for the most "start overs" I'd win, hands down! I am a classic yo-yo dieter, and each time I not only gain it all back but I gain more! I' turned 70 last year, which was a rough year for me, from start to finish. it started with my brother's death in January, gall bladder surgery in February, hammer toe surgery in March, and excruciating back and hip pain from May on. Initially my doctor thought the back issues were temporary, but an X-ray and MRI proved otherwise. I am learning to take things slower and finding ways to adapt. I sometimes take bike rides on a recumbent bike (hope to buy one one of these days), look forward to swimming at LA Fitness when it's safe to do so, and have started doing short exercises like going for short walks in my neighborhood and using Sparkpeople exercise videos that I'm able to do. I always have to use a cane and often a walker to move around,

My goals used to be centered around looking better and fitting into smaller sizes. Those are both nice, but now my major goal is to get as much weight off my spine so I can walk better and maybe get back to some activities I used to enjoy, like sailing and bike riding. I can reach my goal in a year if I lose 1.5 lbs a week, which is a modest goal. Then the challenge will be to KEEP IT OFF.

Two of my brothers are diabetics and we have heart problems in my family, so I need to get healthy and extend my life. Staying overweight makes as much sense as smoking or excessive drinking, knowing it could shorten their life. I'm often mistaken as the mother of my granddaughters, rather than grandmother, but they deserve a more youthful Grammy who can do more with them!

My doctor told me if I don't lose the weight I'm probably looking at back surgery. Losing weight will help a variety of problems, including getting pressure off my spine, making breathing easier, being able to be more physically active (bike riding, walking, swimming, sailing, stand up paddle boarding, etc). That's motivation.

My plan is to just track my food and water on SparkPeople and do what I know I need to. I can't physically exersize much, but a little is better than not at all. My women's sailing group is staying connected during the virus by playing "Bingo". We choose what to put on our cards, but lmost everything on our Bingo Cards is some sort of physical exercise, which we can modify if we need to.That's what got me started back on exercise and ultimately led me back to SparkPeople.

My Goals:
Lose 66 lbs before by the spring of 2021. I want to look and feel better and reduce the risk of health and other health problems, but mostly I want to get the weight off my body in the hopes that I can reduce the amount of pain I have and increase my mobility.

Track my food and water daily.

Eat out less and eat healthier at home.

Drink 63-100 ounces of water a day.

Listen to my weight loss hypnosis program every night

Exercise when doctor allows it.

Go down one size every 6-8 weeks.

Reward myself every time I lose 10 pounds (not with food!)

Go to bed earlier (about 10)

DO NOT EAT BREAD!

Try at least one new veggie recipe a week.

Get weekly vitamin B-12 shot.

My Program:
Eat sensible and log all foods in Spark People.
Exercise a little each day...10-20 minutes and more if I am able.
