Wife. Mom. Daughter. Granddaughter. Voice Teacher. Aspiring pianist. Martha-Stuart-Type. Emotional Eater. Beautiful Person. I am all of these things and I'm striving to squash negative habits of the past and be the best person I can be. I've lost 50lbs before through sparkpeople, but since having a baby and trying to fit weight-loss in with my everyday life and responsibilities--I'm stuck. I don't know how long it will take me, but more important than any number on a scale, I want to love myself and feel alive. I want my food to be about nourishment and not emotions. I want to exercise because I like to feel strong, not because its a punishment for being "fat." I want to bust through the old negative tapes in my head telling me that I'm not good enough. I am enough and I will find my way.

Ooh... another baby in the idea pipeline. Cool! You'll have to tell me when you get pregnant.

I know what you mean, though, as all the hormonal changes probably do mess with the voice a bit. Glad you're in the opera chorus and doing concerts. That sounds like fun!

As for me, I am doing Don Pasquale this summer. It will hopefully be a blast! Otherwise, I might (heavy emphasis on the 'might') be covering a Lucia in the UK in October. The Artistic Director and I are talking about it. I don't see how she can refuse, as a free cover is a free cover. emoticon

All I really want is to put it on my CV, lol. But, she is doing the role, even though she isn't a dramatic coloratura. I've listened to her recordings, and she sings fine, but it is risky to do a role so far out of your fach. She told me that she won't be taking any of the traditional cadenzas - WTH? So, I can see how she might feel threatened by having a cover that can actually do the cadenzas, lol. So, if it doesn't happen, that will be the reason. I actually don't think I'm quite ready to sing Lucia, but to have it on my CV as a cover would be perfect!

I just sang a concert in the states (more like a fancy party for a company and their clients). They have asked me to do something similar in Japan in June. Whether or not I end up doing it, it is nice to be asked.

That's about it. I should be auditioning, but grrr.

Anyway, best wishes for getting pregnant again and for your concerts!

    Cheers,
    Heidi

Thanks for your comment! Yep, babies sure know how to keep it "fresh".
How old is your baby now? Gavin tried to refuse the bottle and formula a few months back! That was fun. I am having one of those extra exhausted days. But I'm gonna go and shake it off with some cardio!

Thanks for you comment...it is nice to know that you are out there :)

Thanks Kristen! I so agree...about living closer. I have friends out here that had babies, but like we said before...it just isn't the same! (just so you know as well, my name is actually Jenny...for some reason years ago I came up with the JulieBear screenname, Julie is actually my middle name). I am glad that I have your support though on here. I really do know we can get through this...but it is such a rollercoaster. I know if I get focused, like I can and do in so many areas of my life I will kick butt, but it's going to require focus, determination and drive and I'm working on it. Know I'm always here for you!!! ;)

Oh yeah...also didn't mention the looks you get or EVEN apologies about having a c-section as well! I was/am fine with it! I thought it probably would happen, the doc thought it might happen as well...but people judge it and look down on that as well. Drive me nuts! If I didn't have a c-section, if they didn't do c-sections, my little man wouldn't have made it. Argghh....people need to just stop :) (I am sure you can relate to that as well). Just had to vent a bit.
