Hello I am Jamie, I'm Australian, vegan, and trying to get to a healthy weight. I have been overweight for most of my life, but am now trying to work harder and smarter to finally lose weight so that I can be more healthy. I have always struggled to lose weight, despite mostly eating a healthy vegan wholefoods diet with very little cake or beer, ;) and for periods on and off of being a regular exerciser.

I am now aiming for 1300-1700 calories a day, and trying to include at least an additional 15 minutes of exercise daily (I already walk for at least 45 mins most work days, getting to and from work).

I've had great success with Sparkpeople previously - I lost about 5 kilos - but I took a 'week off' of tracking my food, which turned into two weeks, which turned into... no longer tracking, and then pretty much going back to old ways. I think that tracking the food I'm eating, and seeing the nutritional info stats, is the most motivating of all of the healthy-eating tools I've tried. The challenge of meeting the daily goals really gets my interest, and wanting to indulge in my junky cravings comes behind wanting to win my daily diet challenge.

My Goals:
Overall, I want to reach a healthy weight range.

Mini goals:

-Eat at least 5 servings of vegetables every day.

-Indulge in delicious teas instead of sugary sweets.

-Incorporate a new-to-me 'superfood' into my menu at least once each week.

-Do something fun every day.

-Increase my activity levels every day.

My Program:
Generally following along with the concept of the Eat to Live program, but choosing more of my preferred foods over strictly sticking to the program, so that I have a better chance of staying on track long term!

Personal Information:
Have been vegetarian for the past 10 years, vegan for around the last 5 of those. My husband (mostly vegan, else vegetarian) is also following my diet with me.

Good luck with weighing tomorrow. I haven't done for weeks, we have no scale so I do it at Daniel's parents place.

Btw do you do 'cheat days'? One of my friends who is a fitness instructor suggested me a cheat day once a week, on that day you're allowed to eat something you normally don't allow yourself, or skip exercise. I think I have too many cheat days... LOL

I was really bad today: more than 3000 calories emoticon the So Good ice cream it's not listed here, I have to make an entry still (so I guessed for now) and the more than half a bar of chocolate wasn't the best idea.... what was I thinking? An awful craving came up. Daniel and I had both this ice cream craving and we went crazy. Difference between us: he can afford it, I can not emoticon

I need to add the vegan 'cola bottles' I ate which are tiny sweets, I can look up the calories, but how do it add just some calories in my diary if I can't add the product to the system?

Plus I added some products to the system but they don't seem to show up when I search for the the next day, does it really get added to the system or just to my own list?

So far my report seems pretty freaky: I am not able to eat enough food, which is weird because it's what I always eat and I don't loose weight that easily. I think my metabolism is really slow :(

Thanks for letting me know, I got a pedometer, if I can find where it is, I noticed when I used it that I do a LOT of steps just at home, I seem to walk around a lot. Shame the thing tends to fall off, got to find a solution for that. Not sure if there is a way to measure dancing. I don't know if that's only cardio, but I tend to use my arms a lot and they are pretty strong: I can hold a sign up at a protest for more than an hour (ok with letting my blood get back into my arms every now and then) but I noticed that other (healthy) people can't do that. I think I have dance arms, so at least some part of me is fit :P
So I assume that part of the dancing does strengthen my muscles.
