Hi, I'm Jean! I've struggled to lose weight most of my life. Though I've made quite a few lifestyle changes since joining Sparkpeople, and feel better than I have in some time, the weight is still slow to come off. I'm persevering, though! I live in the San Francisco bay area with my wife Bonnie, and am adjusting to life in my 60s.

My Goals:
The big goal is to lose weight! Additionally, I aim to be more active in general, and work on increasing my cardio activity intensity, and increase my core and upper body muscle strength.


My Program:
I'm trying to: follow SP calorie guidelines, severely limit saturated fat intake (I have slightly high cholesterol, which runs in my family), do 30 minutes of cardio a day, and strength training three times per week.



Personal Information:
I'm a California girl - I was born here and have lived here nearly all my life. I live in the San Francisco bay area with my wife Bonnie (been together more than 30 years), my housemate and friend Gesine, and a bunch of cats.


Other Information:
I love music! I used to play semi-professionally, but I don't play too often now after I developed carpal tunnel syndrome. Still love to listen. I have eclectic tastes, and listen to everything from jam bands to early music. There are few music genres I don't have at least some examples of on my phone. A few of my favorites artists are Lucinda Williams and the Grateful Dead - I went to more than 300 Dead shows when they were touring.

    Are you interested in a Challenge?

    The Biggest Loser goes for 10 weeks. It consists of 10 teams participating in weekly Fitness and Nutrition challenges. The Spring challenge will be getting started the beginning of March. It consists of fitness and nutrition challenges that are often in a form of a game. If for some reason you cannot do a challenge then they are modified to meet your needs. Often we do the challenge in a game form, we have BINGO and TIC TAC TOE or seasonally themed. For Winter we had Help Santa Fill His Sleigh, Run Rudolf Run and Super Bowl. If you decide this might be for you you can leave your name on the waitlist for the Spring challenge.
