Accountability!!

A big part of me wanted to make a new profile. But I'm not trying to wash away my past or hide from the life that got me here.

I started this journey 9 years ago, when I graduated college. I was fat, unhealthy, unhappy, and at the mercy of the worst relationship I'd ever been in. I exercised my way from 290 down to 220, but then I caught the flu, and every excuse in the book piled on. I was busy, I was injured, I was sick--and less than a year later, I weighed more than ever. I moved to another country, got married, and wound up living in North Carolina with my beautiful wife.

About 2 years ago, I stepped on the scale and was dismayed to see that the weight had creeped up to 320. 320!! I never thought I was THAT big. I dusted off my resistance band and downloaded a book about the Paleo diet. The weight just fell off! 18lbs the first month, 8 the next, 4 the next...and that was it. I stuck at 280, and have been fluctuating up and down for over a year. WFPB, Paleo, HFLC, you name it, I've tried it since, and I always wind up cheating and not going back. I've managed to keep my weight at 280 the last couple years without much effort, but I'm ready to go beyond that.

The thing is, me at 280 now is NOTHING like me at 290 in college. I run up stairs. I lift 100lb boxes and toss them around. I walk 5 miles a day without breaking a sweat. I also travel for work, and can drive up to 16 hours a day sometimes.

I go to a lot of anime conventions, as I'm a vendor, and I cosplay. I'd love to be able to open bind, and to be comfortable with sleeveless cosplays!

What drove me back here is that my wife has a chronic illness (cervical stenosis, her spine is kind of collapsing). She has a lot of pain, and often a lot of weakness in her limbs. It's degenerative. I know that my best chance to keep her with me longest is if I'm physically able to cover for her in a lot of physical ways.

* Develop a lasting yoga routine
* Make use of the pool all summer!


My Program:
Audiobooks + long walks (about 5 miles daily) makes me happy.
Strength training (3x a week) makes me strong.
I track all my food with my Fitbit and aim for a deficit of 1000 calories daily.
