Absolutely! The goal is supposed to be to do a workout as often as possible that you feel good about and that doesn't burn you out. That is actually a huge downside for me with the HRM, I tend to get a bit obsessed with the numbers! Just do your time and feel good about what you do. It's for the long-term!

There are probably a couple of reasons I can burn over 1000 calories in an hour on the Elliptical. First and foremost, I weigh almost 240 pounds! The heavier you are, the more calories you will burn in the same amount of time. Second, I ALWAYS use a Polar heart rate monitor when I do cardio. It is the most accurate way of measuring calories burned. The machine read around 850. There is a chance that you are actually burning more calories than the machine is telling you, although I have heard some stories of the reverse being true. If you have the option, invest in a HRM! I LOVE mine!
