On a Quest to be my Best
updated 5/20
I had 100 lbs to lose and now have about lbs 39 left to lose.
I have three forms of autoimmune arthritis which is a very different story from the arthritis most people think of when they hear the word.. I am almost housebound due to it.. spending 99% of the day either in bed or in my power recliner. I've had many surgeries and need many more. So keeping physically active is difficult. and maybe impossible...but I'm determined to try to move as much as possible. Pain ...

Pain is very bad.
I love the Lord Jesus and am active in my church's prayer ministry. Praying is the one thing I can do that doesn't hurt!!! Although I had to give up kneeling. :)
I am grateful for a few Sparkfriends who have stuck by me in friendship even when I'd wandered from SparkPeople. You know who you are and I thank you!!
It's been a long and bumpy ride. I've been a member of Spark People since 2009....initially lost 70 pounds which, after many encounters with IV Steroids, I regained.
Now I am not on any specific diet...not even avoiding "bad" foods....but really focusing on adding more and more healthy food and the bad foods don't have much room on my plate anymore.
I am working with Coach Beth who is helping me to see myself and my eating more clearly and is full of ideas about how to lose the weight I need to get rid of.
I am optimistic that this time, I will successfully lose the weight and keep it off. Of course my health will have a lot to say about that. You can call me "The Comeback Kid".

My Goals:
To lose 20 lbs. (done)
To find ways to regain some lost strength.
To laugh more.
To help more than I am helped.
My Program:
I will try to make more of my meals rather than resorting to frozen meals ...This is hard because of pain . But If i DO eat frozen, I want to try to stick to the healthy brands ...Those limited portions are helpful.
I will try to drink more water and make the diet soda a rare treat.
I will limit my night time eating. That will probably also help me to sleep better
To try to get adequate sleep.
To blog and to talk to friends in order to be held accountable and also to receive encouragement..
Will attempt some gentle stretching and also some strength work focusing on my core.
Personal Information:
I suffer from a debilitating form of a Rheumatic AutoImmune Disease (PsA)as well as RA and SJ (Sjogrens's Syndrome) and Glaucoma and have had 7 major joint replacement surgeries thus far, with 3 more pending
I love the Lord Jesus and wish to live a life of moderation and restraint.
I hope to begin to simplify my life. Shedding excess things and getting down to what really matters
Other Information:
I'm looking for ways to continue my creative output despite physical limitation.
I have kept a blog since 2009 and have had 285,000 visitors. It is my "opus magnus"
..
In September,`14 my first book, a memoir, was published--that was a dream for years and now is a reality.
