My weight loss journey started 5 years ago. As a child, I was always overweight and this carried to my teenage years where my parents tried to get me to diet. But when you tell a teenager to do something, they do the opposite so I just put more weight on. By the time I left college, I weighed 220 pounds and decided something had to change. I lost 40 pounds in 2005 and was delighted at the change in the way people saw me and the way I saw myself.

Since 2005, I've been between 180 and 190 and trying to lose the last 20 pounds. I guess that's a plateau of four years!! I've had so many attempts and resolutions that haven't resulted in me being 160 but I guess without these attempts and resolutions, I would have put all the weight back on.

So here I go again. A new attitude and a new resolution. There's a change this time round though. This time, I'm not going to do anything that I can't keep up for the rest of my life. This time I realise that it's a long term goal and not a short term one. This time it's not about obsessively weighing and measuring myself. This time it's about taking every food and excercise decision as it comes and doing my best to make the right choice for me...even if it is a treat or a lazy day.
