"If you want to get somewhere you have to know where you want to go and how to get there. Then never, never, never give up."
My weight loss journey has been a lifelong battle. I was always the “big girl” in high school, mostly because of my height. At 5’10 I was always able to carry that extra fed pounds without looking too bad. When I was in gr 12 I averaged between 170 and 175 and looking back at those photos I look so thin, and yet I always felt so fat. Funny how age makes us see things so much clearer.

I joined the military straight out of high school and have been actively employed ever since. I’ve just started by 29th year, with 8 more to go until I can retire. Can’t wait.

In 2006 I quit smoking for the first time. I never touched it for almost 5 years but in March of 07 I bottomed out at 258 lbs. I was miserable. I couldn’t tie my shoes, I had absolutely no energy or self-confidence (which I’ve lacked almost all of my life) and then one day, while at a recruiting career fair way up in Northwestern Canada, a smug 17 year old made me take a serious look at what I was doing to myself. He insulted me so badly that the average person probably would have smacked him. I on the other hand, opened my eyes for the first time, and that my friends, and readers, is when I truly started this battle for real.

It took me a while but I finally got down to 179 pounds at Christmas of 2012. So close to my high school weight. I felt amazing. Mostly I stuck to WW but with a Atkins flare (I didn’t eat many carbs – which I crave). What happened you probably are asking yourself? Well a wild teenager – that’s what!!

and I started smoking again ………(UGH)

But now I am once again smoke free… and without reaching 258 lbs!! YAHOO!!!
