I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2008. Corticosteroids, joint and intestinal pain (& other tummy-related symptoms...), fatigue, and an intolerance to raw or cooked vegetables have lead to significant weight gain. I also suffer from hip dysplasia and PTSD. Now that I'm understanding the limitations of my conditions, I want to work on getting back to a healthy weight, which means working on losing at least 100 pounds. I've tried all sorts of diets, and I need to focus on eating the vegetables that I can tolerate. Therefore, I'm doing 1-year of flexible vegetarianism. (I love my cheese too much for veganism.). Overall, I need to change my perspectives on food from seeing healthy eating as a punishment for being fat to an expression of love for myself. I love spin class and weight lifting. I love my dog, and I hope that weightloss will make going on walks less painful for me. I have a PhD in neuroscience so I know I have the discipline, drive and intelligence to lose weight, but my stubbornness makes breaking bad habits difficult. I'm already happy, and I already love myself. Now it's time for me to achieve the trifecta and be healthy too!

Personal Information:
I'm currently working on my PhD in neuroscience studying the mechanisms behind chronic pain. This topic is personal to me because I suffer from Crohn's disease-related chronic pain. I've learned to manage the physical problems. Now, I need to tackle the emotional loose ends.
