    It is week 2 of our 10-minute daily exercise challenge at Keep Walking With Jesus. We would love you to join.

    This week in our challenge we will focus on stretching after the workout. I can attest how this has improved my flexibility. When I started adding stretching to my exercise routine I could hardly stretch to my knees. Now I can touch the floor. With any type of exercise make sure you check with your doctor about what you should and should not do. Always go slowly and hold the stretches for 15 to 25 seconds. Never bounce while stretching as this can cause you to get hurt. Never stretch to any pain or dizziness. Holding your breath during any exercise, stretching included, can lead to dizziness and passing out. Keep breathing during the stretch - people have a tendency to hold their breath without even realizing it when stretching.

    Stretching after a workout can help to reduce muscle fatigue and improves flexibility and range of motion. When you stretch after a workout, your muscles are warm and you benefit from increased blood circulation. This also means improved balance.

    Here is your first stretch:

    Runner’s/Walker’s Lunge – Stretches the hamstrings and calves in the legs.

    Stand about 10 inches away from a wall; place palms on the wall. Step back with right foot. Bend left knee (make sure your knee does not go over your toes), keeping right heel down; hold. Repeat on opposite side.
