"Diets don't work. You lose a few pounds and than you keep on doing all the wrong things to gain them back. I'm not going on a diet, I'm changing my lifestyle. I'm going to change the way I eat and start walking every day. I'm going to focus on living a healthy lifestyle and I'll lose weight because I'll be eating better and getting exercise. By changing my lifestyle, I make being healthy a way of life not just a fad diet."

My Goals:
I used to walk every day. I didn't have a car for many years, so I walked everywhere. Than 4 years ago I got a car and my walking habit stopped. A few weeks ago my car broke down and was in the shop 4 weeks, so I had to walk everywhere again, only I couldn't! After a quarter mile I was winded and had to stop to rest. This shocked me, because I used to walk 10 miles a day and now I was so far out of shape that I couldn't even make a half mile! That's when I realized I had to get back in shape, because if I was having a hard time walking that meant my health was suffering.

My goals are: lose 50lbs in 2011, get my body back into shape, get unhealthy foods out of my diet once and for all, join a gym, and become a professional belly dancer.

My primary goal on SparkPeople is to lose 46lbs this year, which will bring me into the high end of my "ideal" weight; and after that aim to maintain 130/135lbs which is where I should be.

My Program:
Secondary goal is to walk no less than 5 miles per week (I've been slacking off, I used to do that a day! Heck when I was younger I use to do 10 to 13 miles a day, boy have I ever slacked off - I'm lucky if I even go a full mile in a week now.)

Third goal is to change my diet (it's gotten very snack and soda oriented this past year - must get back into my raw foods diet - I started gaining weight when I stopped the raw food diet and started eating a lot of processed food).

Fourth goal is to join a gym (I'm thinking of the Zumba gym which just opened next door to my dad's house, because it is dance aerobics which teaches dance moves while exercising and see my next goal for explanation.).

Final goal is to join a dance studio and take lessons. It has been my life long dream to be a dancer. I plan to join a belly dance troupe.

    I wanted to tell you that for some reason, your story really helped me make some sense of my own sibling's basic desire to kill herself with food. I have been pretty distraught seeing the delusions that go on with all of us.
