On My Way!
I started my weight loss journey in June 2009. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in late 2008, and by the following summer I was ready to get my life back on track. It was time to get healthy and make my body the strongest Crohn's-fighting machine it could possibly be! It hasn't been a fast pocess, but I've learned a lot and have made great progress. I found SparkPeople in September 2010, and it's become an important part of my journey. Now my Crohns is under conrol and I'm feeling ...

It was time to get healthy and make my body the strongest Crohn's-fighting machine it could possibly be! It hasn't been a fast pocess, but I've learned a lot and have made great progress. I found SparkPeople in September 2010, and it's become an important part of my journey. Now my Crohns is under conrol and I'm feeling healthier, stronger, and happier than have been in years!
In the summer of 2010 I completed a Couch to 5K program with a friend. We spent the summer running through our local city forest. It wasn't easy, but I found that I actually enjoy running! Who woulda thunk it? Certainly not me 2 years ago! My friend and I completed our first 5K race in September 2010. After that I took a break from running for a few months, but started up again in January of this year. I started slowly increasing my distances, and was beginning to feel like a "real" runner! Then a friend convinced me to join him for a 15K race in May. At first I said "no way!". I really thought I couldn't possibly do 15K. But her persisted, I did some research and devised a training plan, and now.... I'm training for my first 15K!
I reached a healthy BMI in March. That was one of my major goals. I've still got weight to lose, but I'm currently more focused on my training plan and getting ready for this race. That's not to say I'm not trying to lose more (I am still trying very hard!), I've just shifted my attitude toward becoming a better athlete, and accepting that it may take me longer to get to 130 lbs than I originally thought. That's okay, because my real goal here is to be happy and healthy, no matter what a number on the scale may say. To that end, I feel like I am well on my way!

My Goals:
1. To be healthy, happy, and active!
2. Reach 130 lbs
3. Become an athlete!
Mini goals:
1. Reach a healthy BMI (no longer overweight). Done 3/21/11!
2. Complete the Sugarloaf 15K race.
Done 5/15/11!
3. Get out of the 140s! I've been here too long!
My Program:
1. Track everything I eat. This keeps me accountable, prevents mindless eating, and helps me to make sure I'm getting all the nutrients I need to power me up and keep me healthy.
2. Move, move move!
Right now I'm doing 60 minutes of cardio 6 days a week, and strength training 2 days a week. This is in preperation for my 15K race in mid-May.
I love my step aerobics class at the YMCA! Such a fun class, great instructors, and awsome classmates!
My running plan is 2 shorter runs during the work week, and the one long weekend run. I'm working my way up to 9.3 miles (15K!) in preparation for the Sugarloaf 15K.
Personal Information:
I'm a 30 year old legal aid attorney. I live in the downeast area of Maine, near all the best stuff- ocean, coast line, rivers, lakes, forests, and mountains. It's a nature lovers paradise around here!
