This isn't my first rodeo, as they say. I was on Sparkpeople in 2009/2010 as live-your-life and had great success. I lost 50 lbs in under a year and was extremely invested in healthy eating and exercising. I looked great! Unfortunately, I became a bit too intense about losing weight and even though I looked great, I didn't appreciate it and was extremely harsh on myself. I would cry if I ate a cupcake, missed my 2nd workout of the day, or fluctuated by a pound. I wasn't happy. I didn't even address the reasons why I was binge eating in the first place.

I maintained around 150-165 lbs for a solid 3 years but in the past 2 years, fitness and healthy eating really fell out of my top priorities. Grad school, a difficult breakup, my first office job, and an exchange in Europe all had a very negative impact on my healthier lifestyle. I am not as interested in weighing myself anymore because I thinking it negatively impacts my mental health. I haven't weighed myself since August 2013 and I don't intend to for a while but I am guessing that I am around 180-185 lbs right now. Clearly, I am not happy with this increase!

The interesting part to me is that right now, I am the mentally strongest and happiest I have ever felt even though I am not at my smallest or fittest. Over the past few years, I dealt with my anxiety problem and took steps to increase my confidence. I used to tie my confidence directly to my appearance and my weight but now I realize that my value does not come from these things and that I am in charge of what I think of myself.

I am back on Sparkpeople because my gained weight and lack of fitness has started to negatively affect how I think of myself again and decrease my confidence. I'm only 24 and I don't want anything to stand in the way of me leading my best life possible, so I am here again! I had success with Sparkpeople before and want to get back into a healthy lifestyle. It's now or never!!!
