SNUGGLY4U
Thank you for your comment on my page. I DID look into the gestational diabetes diet and took many tips from it. I found I can't follow it 100% because it's too low in carbs for my hypoglycemia to tolerate, but just detoxing and eating more planned meals and THINKING about my intake has helped greatly.
Only gained 7 lbs in the last 6 weeks which is right on track for where I need to be.
Thanks again for the post, and I will take you up on your offer of help if I have any questions or run into any problems! 3513 days ago
EXPRESSIONISM
Don't worry about not getting back to me! I haven't been on here in ages (probably since I last commented on your page!) because I broke my finger, and the healing process was so bad I had to get surgery. I have lost all movement in the upper part of my finger. I can't make a fist, and lift weights, hold a baseball bat, or even open jars that are on too snug... I found out I have osteoporosis, so alot of my physical activities that I love (jogging, heavy weight liftng) is on the list of no nos. I walk, but not sure what else to do with myself! I haven't been to the gym in ages, but a few weeks ago I FOUND OUT IM PREGNANT WITH MY FIRST CHILD! so like you, I'm sure I won't be focusing on this site much either ;) Congrats on the new baby!!!! and thanks for writing :) 3542 days ago
SWISSMISS80
Hey there. Just saw your comment on my page! Congratulations on the birth of your child!! I would love to be spark buddies if you are still looking :) I have been "missing in action" on sparkpeople for about two weeks due to crazy work schedules. My biggest problem is getting exercise in. I work full time and am pretty much on my own as far as taking care of my 3 year old and my 7 months old goes. After I feed, bathe and put the kids to bed it is so hard to find the motivation for exercise but I know I have to do something... Eating is not a big issue with me - I like healthy foods. I also had a c-section btw. with my last child back in October and breastfeed her for approx. 3 months. Let me know if you are still looking for a buddy :) ~J 3545 days ago
LADYGREENEYES
Welcome back, I guess? I only joined a month ago but my babies just turned 19 and 17. Still a Mommy who wants to be a Wowwy so voila! here I am!
You asked about Jenny Craig's Nursing Mother's Diet and I was on it 19 years ago and can tell you it was great! FOr $80-90 per week, and covering only 1/4 of the food I had to eat (after I weeded out the unnecessary to buy from JC crap), I lost 74 pounds in almost 9 months. I was a 26 yr old mom who was in a bikini the summer following my June baby. Most of the food tasted decent, some made me gag and I had to insist on changing it out (they weren't flexible then at all), but I got there.
As my obstetrician put it, "A nursing mother at rest on a couch is burning more calories than a non-nursing woman who is rock climbing". I just read a great article about nursing and nutritional needs on here the other day and may have posted the link on my friend OonaSpark's page, but you can also search for it, about how you need an extra 500 calories per day for nursing.
If you even just walked with your baby in a stroller and walked a small circuit of your neighborhood (you CAN track mileage on this site! How cool is that!), you and your baby will get fresh air daily, your baby could love watching the scenery or might nap great from the fresh air and rolling along would benefit you both! If you have an older child, you could let them ride a tricycle or what have you, or have them "help" you push the stroller, to keep them safe and close to you if you're on a busy street.
