Hello, Spark Members!

I'm a wife, mom, and Memere (grandma) to two, with another due late 2012. Very proud USMarineCorp mom. Bookworm, movie fan, music lover, tea and coffee of every variety fanatic, candle lover...along with doing crafts, crocheting, writing, journal keeping, scrapbooking, gardening...and probably a good few other things if I really start thinking about it.

Started taking my health and fitness more seriously once I hit 40...lol...not that hitting 40 bugged me, it didn't, I'm loving my 40s, but things started aching and getting sluggish in the bod around about then, and I wanted to feel good again...soooooooo, started eating better, and making sure to move a lot, etc.

Every year a bit more, every year adding new things, learning new health benefits, exercises, etc. Come 2006 I was more than just a little bit into diet and health, and then 2007 even moreso, and now here we are in 2008, I'm 45, and I'm not dieting and exercising anymore...I now have made a lifestyle change that includes movement and healthier eating, a definite change in thinking and attitude, and it's super cool!

Took a brief time away from Sparks starting in 2010 due to real life getting in the way and back issues, but as of November 2011 I'm back and feeling positive and onward upward once again. During that time away, I gained back about 10 lbs...not great, but could be worse, so I'll take that and move ahead with it rather than spending time with a pout on!

I'm not a calorie counter nor a scale owner...unusual, but it works for me, that way I don't dwell on numbers. I go by how I feel, how my body feels, how my clothes fit...and I feel soooooooo much better now than I did two years ago, and even one year ago!

For those with small children who read this, or kids in general, any age...it isn't easy changing your lifestyle when you have a family to care for and raise. Oh boy, do I ever know...lol...been there, done that, got the photos to prove it! I did metza-metza okay...sometimes better than at other times...but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, they do grow, they do get their own lives, and WOW, then it's so much easier to concentrate on your own daily pattern and you'll feel the progress much quicker, believe me! Love my kids, but damn...glad they're grown now!

My Goals:
To wear a size 20 loosely!

To sit in a vehicle more comfortably for long periods of time!

I want to get back to traveling and sightseeing now that the kids are grown and living their own lives!

My Program:
A very basic lifestyle change is my 'program'. I portion control but I don't calorie count carefully, and I didn't even own a scale until the summer of 2008...lol. Everything in moderation is my game plan...you can eat a cookie, don't need to eat 5 cookies or a whole pack! I measure my progress by how I feel, how my body feels, and how my clothes fit...at most I weigh myself once a week; Friday.

Liquids are extremely important, so I'm a stickler with my water intake. Occasionally I'll have fruit juices...tea and coffee are rare now, but every once in a blue moon I'll enjoy a nice cuppa!

Monday- Friday is always much the same: morning starts with steps, at least 500 steps taken around the house, with a full body stretch after each 100 steps. Then 2 tbs Noni Juice in 1/4 cup water, and a Bee Alive honey capsule - both things are good for the whole body. I vary my exercise, but I get in 50+ reps exercise, 1 1/2+ miles walking, 30+ minutes boxing.

Personal Information:
New Englander born and raised, Massachusetts to be exact...but home is in Virginia now.

Dog nut...love, love, love dogs...all types, all sizes!

Bookworm...usually have more than 1 book going at any one time...no favorite genre, but historical, historical romance, non-fiction, and biographies are big pulls.

Candles...love candles! I melt them rather than burn them. Yankee Candle are my favorites, their scent lasts forever.

Coffee and tea for me! Plain, herbal, flavored, hot, cold...hmmmmm!

Gardening via pots...a joy that I look forward to every spring and summer...mostly flowers, but with the odd veggie included.

Happy New Year!!! As we close the book on another year, it's time to open up a new chapter on yourself. Take time to live in the wonder that is you, put YOU back on the front burner, map, road whatever works for you. Believe that you can make things happen, accomplish goals, take a risk and live the life you've always wanted. Here's to a year filled with success, changes and getting what you want in your life.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas! This is the time of year to when were decking the halls, drinking eggnog and having one too many cookies, but it's also the time to spend with your loved ones and share in the Spirit of the season. May you and yours have a wonderful Christmas filled with love, joy and peace!
