My Goals:
I'd really like to be able to run for an extended period without it sounding like I'm about to pass out.
I'm currently focused on a backpacking trip set for August. Working on cardio and have adopted a new program targeting low altitude training for high altitude backpacking.
My Program:
Training for a 5k:
Run 6 days a week, with varying distances.
Gym 3 to 4 times a week, focusing on strength training.
No specific diet program, eating mostly vegetables. almost no red meat, mostly poultry and fish.
Personal Information:
I live in western Maryland and am a lover of history, books and dogs. I try to travel as much as possible and am looking forward to eventually moving out of Maryland and exploring the rest of the country even further.
Other Information:
My grandfather hated General Patton, but Patton's words have inspired me a great deal in my weight loss journey. "Now If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But, the body is never tired if the mind is not tired." I've come to view going to the gym as an internal battle. I hope these words might inspire someone else as much as they've inspired me.
