I'm a single "mother" of two orange kitties. I'm a geographer so I love to travel and I make maps for a living. Sort of. That's the easy explanation, anyway (most people don't know what GIS is). I used to be relatively thin, but then I graduated and got a desk job and over the past 10 years I've gained about 50 pounds. EEK! I figured it was about time to do something about that! I don't like the way I look, and I have a hard time keeping up with my friends doing things I like to do, such as hiking and other outdoor activities. I basically want to feel better, have more energy, and look better. I'm serious this time!

1/3/10 update:
2009 was an awful year in many ways, but I'm determined to make 2010 better. I gained back a little over 15 pounds in 2009, so I'd like to lose those plus about 10 more in 2010. The first step will be getting back into the habit of exercising regularly and keeping track of everything I eat. I also need to focus more on drinking 8 glasses of water a day. Then I'll take it from there. I signed up for the Spark Your Body Bootcamp and am also doing the Health Challenge at work again this year (we get points for minutes of exercise this year, but nothing else).

My Goals:
Lose weight (20 pounds to go!)
Eat more local foods
Eat less junk and processed food
Walk at least 5 days a week
Walk at least 15 miles a week
Strength train 3 days a week
Do a workout DVD or other cardio (in addition to walk) at least 3 days a week
5 fruits/veggies a day
3 oz. whole grains a day
8 glasses of water a day
Stay within calorie range every day

My Program:
Walk 30 min M-F
Strength Train MWF
Stay w/in calorie range and eat healthy foods
