Thanks for the welcome. I was "shy" about starting with a Spark Page, but then I started thinking that maybe I did need encouragement from other people--if anyone even noticed. It is so encouraging that a few people did. I'm still learning about the website, to get as much help from it as I can. I need all the help I can get. My "first" goal is to lose 50 lbs. That is SO challenging, but I'm breaking it into smaller, achievable goals. I find the daily videos really are good and helpful. Ronda 2874 days ago

Hi Hannah--I just read your comment and it is already helping me. I joined Sparkle People as a suggestion by the doctor that was going to give me a lap-band surgery in 7/12. I ended up not having the surgery but started my own 'thing' because @ 5'2" and 215 lbs. I couldn't take another day of it. I had to retire early due to a back injury and then turned around and survived stage 3 ovarian, uterian & breast cancer, in 2 yrs. time. Before the ill health issues, I was a strong, independant person and worked out @ the gym, running, hiking, walking my dogs and biking etc. I was still 60 lbs. overweight and fooled myself into thinking 'I was good' because I worked out so much. I never took accountabilityfor my mindless, binge eating and out-of-control diet soda addiction. Well my ill health (as per mentioned) was my wake up call to save my life. So 9 mos. later I'm down to 165 lbs. and have lost 42" overall. I still have 30-40 lbs. to lose (total inches unknown). My cholesterol levels, LDL, HDL, blood pressure and liver levels (the numbers I really care about compared to scale/body measurements numbers)are really great. Improving my BMI level, losing the last 30lbs. and regaining body strength is my current challenge. But as I am disabled I cannot exercise. Physical therapy created new injuries. So this is where I find your comment interesting. I know I'm not alone in this journey. Thank You! 2875 days ago
DIVAGLOW WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family! *~ Paula *~ 2875 days ago
