My name is Matthew and I am a 32 father of 4. I am the Network Administrator for 2 companies in North Alabama. My kids are 8,6,5,& 1 which makes for a very active life. It was the fact that I was not being active with my family and watching them play without me that made me want to make a change.

When I was growing up I was always the shorter skinny kid. I was always moving by playing outside, swimming at the YMCA, or playing sports. I never had a problem with weight until I graduated college. I did not add all the weight overnight but it was a slow adding of pounds the sneaked up on me. When I started college I weighed 130lbs and was 5'10". In 2006 I had grown a few inches in height but also everywhere else. I topped the scale at 220lbs and it was time for a change. I made this lifechange for my future health since I have heart disease and Type 2 diabetes on both sides of my family. I wanted to make sure that I am healthy but also that I pass good eating and fitness to my kids.
I know have more energy and I am able to keep up with my young kids with energy to spare. I recently went back for blood work and all my numbers are in the normal range. I dropped my cholesterol by 38 points and my Blood Pressure went from 130/95 to 106/52. These are the numbers knew I needed to achieve and thats to Beachbody and the hard work I had to put in I have achieved my goals. How are you affecting you families health? I can help just ask me how!

My Goals:
I have met and exceeded my initial weight-loss goals by losing 30lbs.

I want to be able to do a handstand and climb a rope with no help from my legs.

My Program:
I have completed 2 full rounds of P90X and a round of Insanity. I am currently doing a hybrid of P90X, One on One, and Insanity.

OK.. this is a relatively short race. I think I put in a finish time for around 1:20:00 with 20/40/20 splits so fueling for this race shouldn't be a lot different than most medium distance races.
First- day before up your CARB intake but not TOOO much and don't add loads of fiber your body isn't used to ;) and HYDRATE
Day of- me personally, I would eat a light breakfast... nothing that will slosh around in your belly. Banana, toast, oatmeal... drink water or something with electrolytes. Make sure you have water for the bike ride.... that second run will be tough if you don't hydrate ont he bike. I'll probably tape a GU to my bike too for a mid course boost. This is a short race so you don't need TONS of fuel

Let me know if that was helpful or not! :) Can't wait to get out there!
