Hi My name is Holly and I am 53 yrs old and have been with Spark People for over 7 years. What a time it has been. I never thought I could really lose 40 lbs when I started but I was going to give it a good try. Well here we are a few years later and I have gone past my original goal of 36 lbs and have lost a total of over 40 lbs!
And maintained my 40 lb loss for 3 1/2 years but did gain about 10 but am maintaining at that for now..
I have run in numerous 5K's since July of 2013. And a 10K in April of 2015
Thanks to all the wonderful people that I have met along the way and have cheered me on to lose the weight and to provide the support. Somehow I feel like I can't let my friends down on this site which then spurs me on to go exercise if I am thinking twice about it.
Let's keep up the great work my wonderful spark friends, together we can do anything!

My Goals:
Goals for 2016
Run more 5K's signed up for 3 so far.
Continue to run and walk daily and enjoy doing it.
Cardio and more strength training!
Goals for 2015
Continue to maintain!
Run more 5K's
Run at least one 10K -Done on 4/25/15
Continue to train and run weekly for longer distances.
I can do it!



My goal was to lose weight, and to get in great shape. I can run for the first time in my life.
Spark people has helped me lose over 40 lbs and have kept 30 of them off for the last 5 1/2 years
I plan on traveling all over the world as time permits so I want to be in the best shape possible to climb stairs and ruins no matter where we go.


My Program:
Cardio at least 6 days a week for 45 mins to an hour.
I have come to love exercise and look forward to it and really do think of it as "me time".
I will add in more strength training this year and continue to train for another 5K.
Inclines on the treadmill are great workouts so I will add them in on non run days as well as the elliptical.



Personal Information:
I live in St. Paul MN.
I have been married for 33 years to a wonderful man that is extremely supportive no matter my size or weight. He has always loved me for me!
I have sparked him as well to watch what he eats and how much, he is not as crazy about it as I am but baby steps are great!


Other Information:
I have 2 beautiful daughters.
They are very supportive of me and my healthy life style change and willing to try new recipes as long as they aren't too crazy. Of course, these are girls that grew up eating octopus and squid so they are pretty brave eaters!

    Thanks for commenting on my blog and for the well wishes. I tell you it is scary to think of having eye problems-hopefully no more in the future. So much depends on having our eye sight!
    That is cute what your husband said about the snow blower in the trunk! emoticon
    We thought we wouldn't even need our window scrapers when we came to FL! We learned -yes, you still get frost on occasion, especially the further north you go, where we are now! It sure is nice not having snow anymore!!!
    Sounds like we both have great guys by our side!!! Especially since they can cook!! emoticon

    Patrick is doing better, we went for a long walk this evening, the cooler temperature is helping both of us.
