- Put on YOUR oxygen mask BEFORE you help others!

- Look *AHEAD.*

- 1 small choice at a time (thanks Scott).

- Now is the time to take care of me, choose, plan and achieve my goals.

- How are you feeling? Doing? (the weather in your world)

- If I don't take care of me, I can't take care of you.

- Go exercise. It makes you feel good!

- EASY does it . . . . . . . . . breathe.

- Stop and give yourself credit for *everything* you do, and appreciate the things you have to be thankful for.

My Goals:

- To become more self-observant and be able to better plan my activities to reach my goals.
- To better articulate my goals.

- To learn how to adjust my diet to incorporate watching both carbs and, now, saturated fats.
- To find better perseverance.
- To get it off and learn how to keep it off!

My Program:
I track my food (500 calories less then my basal needs) watching calories, saturated fat, carbs, fiber and protein, and work to exercise more regularly to burn more calories, thereby lowering my weight. I am learning to incorporate more whole foods and healthy vegetables thanks to both The Suppers Program and the Whole Foods Wellness Club.

Personal Information:
I’m a pretty well controlled Type II Diabetic with an insulin pump. I've lost 40 pounds previously on my own with diet and exercise, but it is tough on your own (from 178 lbs., I returned to 220 when my parents were nonstop sick for a year and a half and my mom died).

I know that the sense of community here and all of the positive reinforcement (Spark Points!) will help me more easily to reach my own goals. I’m glad to be here and trying it again.

Other Information:
I love audio-books and miss the wonderful hot tub at the gym in NJ.

Do read ARTHUR AGATSTON, M.D.'s book "The South Beach Diet" as he deals with metabolic syndrome. He didn't start out to write a diet book at all, but is a Professor of Cardiology at U. of Miami Medical School, and he developed a diet for his heart patients. It just developed into a book after it was so successful. The recipes are to show that you can eat delicious food and lose weight, so he had professional chefs use the list of foods he approved and they created recipes.

    Welcome to the EE team!!

I’ve belonged to a lot of teams here on spark-- i really do believe that the Emotional Eaters team is one of the very best, it’s a great group of people- very supportive and encouraging-- and it is very refreshing to talk with people who "get" what you're going through!!

Check out the main page of the EE team- there are “stickied” topics you may be interested in to get involved- a buddy thread, a place to introduce yourself, weigh-in challenge, a birthday post.

Spark has a lot of great tools, and you will learn which ones work best for you. The best tools are the people tho, always willing to lend a hand, an ear, or a shoulder. I’ve been here for over a year now, and I still am overwhelmed, every day, by the kindness and goodness of others on this team!! That has made a world of difference for me. I hope you have the same success!

~~best of luck to you on all of your goals!!!

I'm so very glad that you've joined the Emotional Eaters Team. The team is a place where you can vent. And where you will receive some awesome support. Of course, I am biased ... it's a great team! I hope you find exactly what you are looking for! Welcome to the team!

Be sure to ask questions if you have them ... someone will likely have the answer. Use the tools SparkPeople provides. They are invaluable. If you feel an emotional eating attack coming on, come to the boards first. Write about it instead of pushing the feelings away with food. We're here for you!

    Eat well, journey well,

Welcome to the emotional eaters team. You will get a lot of support, advice and encouragement here. Post us often. We will listen and help pick you up when you mess up and pat you on the back when you succeed. A valuable tool is the nutrition tracker. You will find it under the my tools tab. It will show your calories, fat, carbs and protein. Drink 8 glasses of water a day and get 30 grams of fiber with the water a day. Exercise 30 min. a day. Spark mail me if you need any help. Check out my spark page. Maybe it will inspire you.
