I'm 70+ and live in the Midwest. We have 3 living children, 2 DILs, 2 DGSs, ages 17 and 14, and a grown DGD who is mommy to our great-grandchildren, 2 girls and a boy!! Being overweight has been a problem for me since my last pregnancy well over 40 years ago! I've probably lost 750 pounds in my life, only to put it all back on time and time again. I also have osteoarthritis and hauling all this weight around is not good for that. So, in the interest of preserving my replaced hips, enjoying life, and above all, being healthier, I'm working on improving my general health and becoming more active--would love to keep up with the younger generation for a very long time! SparkPeople is giving me that chance!

My Goals:
My overall goals are simple. I want to lead a healthier lifestyle that helps me to have the energy and enthusiasm to be active and happy. In order to do this, I will take off the excess pounds by eating healthier and working on my fitness.


My Program:
My program is also simple:
1. I will be focusing on a high fiber eating plan, which includes 8-10 glasses of water/fluids per day. This will include getting an appropriate balance of protein, carbs and fats.
2. I will participate in the Silver Sneakers (when they become available again) and water exercise programs at the Y 3-5 times each week. Fitness may be my friend, but I'm still trying to get make it my best friend--difficult since I'm not really much of a fan. LOL
3. I will weigh in weekly and actively participate in the 2020 5% Fall Challenge, as well as my team activities.

Other Information:
I love to read, do genealogy, work on jigsaw puzzles, and spend as much family time as possible with our grandsons and greats. Notice I do not include exercise in my "loves," but I do make myself work on fitness, with that as the over-riding goal: fitness.

    That is so funny about the earrings. But what really made me laugh was, "Glad I was actually tired. For it was beginning to sound like I was bionic and running on solar power.".
    I think I got used to the afternoon naps after therapy in the hospital and naps were the thing we did. Even now when I lay down to elevate the knee and ice it .,snuggling up for a nap is so normal;.. Plus with the change in the weather it's cool, rainy out. And I still am on the drugs, they make you tired. Plus the body has to get used to the trauma of the surgery. Plus I had the back go out on me and had to deal with that too. So i was hit with a double whammy.
    But I am getting up early ,putting in some time at work, then off to the gym, back home to work, then therapy, then it's usually an early bed.
    I am really secretly just powering up so I can do more, better, faster. Ha!!

    Good question?! She has not said, but my assumption is her plan is to go back out to her boyfriends...which, he will have to figure out transportaion to make that happen...and my hope is that, after getting back in the swing of life with school, etc...that this relationship will also end...I am taking one step at a time here...so I guess only time will tell what is truly going to happen! Thanks for your words on my blog...and you're status about the earrings...now that is hilarious!
