It took me almost 3 months to post a picture of myself on my profile. Does that say anything about how I feel about the way I look? I am turning 56 soon and my relationship with food has been unhealthy for as long as I can remember. My mother was a big dieter. She has yo-yo'd up ant down until about 20 years ago...my current age. She put me on my first diet when I was in the 4th grade. I weighed 84lbs and was tall for my age. I needed to lose 4 lbs. She took me to TOPS Club (like weight watchers) with her every week. I remember seeing one woman strip to her underwear to hit her goal weight. If you gained weight at that week's weigh-in, you had to wear a pink pig tag and stand up in front of the group with all of the other "Piggies" and sing "I am sorry that I was a little pig, I am sorry that I was a little pig. ....I will try harder, I am sorry that I was a little pig..oink...oink!" If I lost weight that week Mom would take me to Coco's Coffee Shop to celebrate with a slice of coconut cream pie. I lost my 4 lbs and was crowned Arizona's pre-teen princess runner up at a atate wide convention... picture in the newspaper, etc I just tossed my trophy a few years ago. We moved to North Carolina when I was in 6th grade. I developed Alopecia Areata (an auto immune disorder which causes your hair to fall out in patches) and started receiving steroid injections. That was a major factor in my eyes changing and I became really nearsighted...enter bifocals. My father was put in charge of my weight management. I remember him slapping me in the face when I gained weight one week. Note.. don't expect your daughter to lose weight while taking steroids. He said I already had 2 strikes against me, hairloss, glasses and getting fatter was number 3. I think he was nervous about my marriage prospects? I was made to take Sego Shakes (like canned Slimfast) to school for lunch in the 6th grade...so much fun to sit with your almost friends at the lunch table...not fun for the new girl looking to blend in. I weighed 120lbs and was 5'4" tall...never grew any taller My hair loss continued on and off for the rest of my life. I huge thing for any one, heartbreaking for a teenage girl. My weight fluctuated from 118 to 132 until my mid 20's. I married a wonderful guy at 25.we have been married for 32 years now. He has never once said I was fat. He has no idea that I let myself get to a high of 250 lbs this summer. He has been very supportive in my dedication to losing weight this time around...I haven't committed myself in this way before. We have one son, now 28. I experienced several miscarriages, so her is our miracle baby. My health is ok. I have high blood pressure, Gerd, sever seasonal allergies, depression and have bad knees. I suffer from seasonal depression, which has become year round depression over the past few years. I decided to take the bull by the horns and to fight for my life this summer when realized I just couldn't drag myself out of bed for the past few years and my life was just existing, not living. My body aches, I don't sleep, I make excuses to skip parties and outings with friends. I have become very withdrawn. I have no family in the area. We got a shock when my husband was targeted to lose his job this past Spring. His company was aquired and they were cutting staff. He has been there for 25 years. He was able to hang onto his job. I realized that it might be difficult for me to become employed at this weight or to even be able to get health insurance in my present condition. So I rededicated myself to fighting for my health and my weight. My action plan: 1) I made an appointment with an ENT to see about getting my deviated septum fixed to help me improve my sleep quality/stop snoring. He sent me to allergy testing. I tested strongly allergic to 28 out of 40 local environmental/seasonal/pet allergens. I changed my allergy meds and started SLIT allergy therapy (an oral allergy therapy similar to allergy injections) to eventually eliminate my allergies to these items. Changing meds means i now sleep and breathe so much better and i now have energy. I didn't know that sever allergies leave you EXHAUSTED!! 2) I saw my doctor and got my depression/anxiety meds adjusted. She added a secondary allergy med and now i am really feeling like a new human being! 3) i went to an orthopedic surgeon to see about my knee pain (I had surgery one one knee 6 years ago, other one was acting up). He told me my knees were shot, but my current knee problem was from stenosis in my lower back, entrapped nerves was causing my leg/knee pain and weakness. Got XRays, MRI. And an appointment with spinal surgeon. The good news was that while i will need 2 knee replacements, the real pain was experiencing was from my lower back. I started treating my lower back with pilates and a commitment to lose weight. Now I can walk without a noticeable limp, i can sit t h rough a movie without wincing the whole time. Stronger core muscles and 30lbs lighter makes my knees happy and less belly makes my lumbar happy! A lot less pajn and tons more energy. 4) I saw my doctor for a physical and told her that i was feeling a lot better with new allergy/depression meds and getting beneficial sleep. I told her that i was feeling optimistic about feeling better and regaining a more active life. Now I am ready to lose weight. She is an advocate of LCHF diet and asked me to start counting my carbs. I then started Keto/LCHF and am down 30 lbs since Aug. 12, 2017. I feel amazing! A lit more Energy, no brain fog/no cravings/mood swings/no depression. I told myself that I would start to add exercise into my life when I lost 20 pounds, but I was in a car accident 9/29 and have been on total brain rest from a concussion since then. No activity, tv, computer, reading, thinking for one month now. Just call me "slug". I am expecting to get clearance from Doctors to return to life and work later this week. I have managed to stay on track with my weight loss and the beautiful Spark community has been my salvation...such great inspiration/support/tools. I am going to get my life back...I feel better than I ever dreamed I could...again! SO VERY GRATEFUL! UPDATE: 8/12/17 Starting Weight 250 current Weight 198.8 Goal Weight 140ish

So he can help him self mid day and make himself lunch and you won't be tempted to snack etc...and go off your meal plan. And maybe you can take a break and sit and have a coffee with him instead.

I can understand the added stress you are under. Hope the shakes work for you. I wish I could get into a cleaning mood when stressed. I definitely need an energy boost. Maybe just a thought you can make your husband a batch of tuna or egg salad etc
