Looking to stay focused through the upcoming Holiday Season? Want to get connected with a Team to support you through your Journey to a Healthier Lifestyle? If yes, then consider joining the Biggest Loser Challenge that starts in early December. Each week 10 teams of 24 Active members do fun nutritional and fitness challenges. The challenges promote a healthy lifestyle. If for some reason you cannot do a challenge, it can be modified to meet your needs. I hope that you decide this might be for you. If so, you can leave your name on the Wait List for the Winter challenge. To get to the List visit my page and click on the “BLUE BIGGEST LOSER” Icon; copy The Team Page Address below or let me know so I can send you an invitation. Join the Team then sign up on the waitlist. It’s the thread right below the Chit Chat thread.
If searching through Spark enter Biggest Loser Winter Challenge All Teams.

Thank you for the sweet goodie and kind words!

I have a counselor I can see here through the VA for free. It's a long wait, but I was thinking of making an appointment just to keep me okay and together for the rest of the gang.

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply and give me support and encouragement. I worry about that girl!

So sorry they're thinking IBS - I'm there too. Couple of things that help - mint tea is great for nausea and runny belly. Very soothing for any stomach upsets. Lactaid is a chewable medication that helps with runny belly or constipation - you just use it slightly differently, depending on what you need. Less stress helps, but I know you can't always control that when you work in crazy places. And regular exercise helps with the stress.

Oh, also eating plenty of fruits and vegs but when you get an IBS episode, stop the fresh fruits and vegs and eat just starchy carbs for a day or two. Somehow that seems really soothing.

I personally have to avoid fried foods and cream sauces - those just set me off. We each have foods that seem to do that - if you can figure out what are the foods that give you the most problems, then you can avoid them.

Also, some of us don't do well with the testing procedures - so always have soothing foods like mint tea and canned soup on hand. I know, canned soup is probably horrible, but after my first colonscopy that was the only food that didn't go right through me. Canned soup and plain crackers. So just always have that on hand for after any testing, or any stressful episodes. Just to let your digestive system take it easy for a bit.

If you can tolerate dairy, plain lowfat yogurt helps too, especially with a little honey. Honey and yogurt are both pre-digested in different ways, but that makes them easier for your body to digest them as well. Again, nice soothing foods for when your stomach can't tolerate anything else.

I come from a family where both parents had ulcers, and 3 of my 4 siblings have IBS. Some of us are just lucky that way.

Hope that all helps! Hang in there, it gets better as you get older and care less about the things that make you stressed.
