    JANICE, the A1c does not need to be fasting.
    They take it from the finger usually. I am type 2 and I do not know much about type 1

    Do you have kidney problems. My BP is always up at the Drs so I take it on my own BP monitor.

    Talk to the Dr and ask if you can have a diabetic councilor if you have not had one.
    You need to know as much about this as you can and learn about it.

    Hi again you should always eat a small snack. Like any thing like protein. We digest protein slowly.
    If you look on your popsicle it might have fructose, glucose. or even sucralose.
    That means you go to bed with nothing to take your body to nourish. There is an article that says Half a peanut butter sandwich Whole wheat.
    Half a Turkey sandwich or chicken breast,
    I actually eat 10 almonds I like them and usually my FBS goes down over night.
    Recently I have to take a medication for Neuropathy. I had back surgery and it caught a nerve ---hence the Neuropathy so I do the 10 almonds.

    Did you have a Diabetic instructor when you were diagnosed. I had 6 weeks classes. Ask your Dr or hospitals our hospital does classes .Pat in Maine.

    Hi BOBBI_60, and NORASPAT, yes I check my FBS as soon as I get up, before I have my coffee or anything to eat. I've found that if I have a Weight Watchers two bite bar my BS the next morning is in the 100-120 range, last night I had a 100 cal. bag of popcorn and my BS was 122, I'm trying to track how much sugar I eat throughout the day to keep track and see where I can control it better.

    JANICE do you use the DIABETIC TRACKER on Spark.
    Do you always check your blood Glucose FASTING.
    I came to Spark because I found the Spark book. I did not have a computer. I got one. After a year I was off Metformin and I stay here to make sure I will not go back. I wan t to stay healthy and in my mind using the tracker tells you your Calories, Carbs,Fats and Protein.

    CARBS - COMPLEX CARBS-GOOD SIMPLE CARBS are not as GOOD
    FATS we need too There are Good fats and not good fats
    PROTEIN keeps you Satisfied and you do not get hungry so soon.
    Look them up on Spark it is all there for you. Pat in Maine.
