No worries about the rant. I think the biggest thing to getting on track was changing my attitudes towards food. I was obsessed with having food that I loved (much like I'm sure you feel about your fast food!) I had to start thinking of food as fuel and as a means to make my body work. I started paying attention to how my body felt after I ate certain foods. Having a cheat day was the best way to break my bad food addictions because I always felt so gross the next day, so over time my "cheating" became less and less. (I still allowed myself one small treat a day that was around 100 calories. . . and I still do!) The other big thing was that I figured out why I was scared of being thin. It sounds ridiculous, but I was using my extra weight to appear unattractive to people from my past who weren't even in my life anymore. I think if you can do those two things and take baby steps with your diet and exercise, you will succeed. Try as best as you can to let go of a short time line. Make a reasonable goal of one pound a week, then give yourself three extra months to allow for plateaus and small relapses. Sorry that I wrote a novel. Hope that helps. Let me know if you need any further help, encouragement, or anything. We can and will do this!!

    Welcome to the EE team!!

I’ve belonged to a lot of teams here on spark-- i really do believe that the Emotional Eaters team is one of the very best, it’s a great group of people- very supportive and encouraging-- and it is very refreshing to talk with people who "get" what you're going through!!

Check out the main page of the EE team- there are “stickied” topics you may be interested in to get involved- a buddy thread, a place to introduce yourself, weigh-in challenge, a birthday post.

Spark has a lot of great tools, and you will learn which ones work best for you. The best tools are the people tho, always willing to lend a hand, an ear, or a shoulder. I’ve been here for over a year now, and I still am overwhelmed, every day, by the kindness and goodness of others on this team!! That has made a world of difference for me. I hope you have the same success!

~~best of luck to you on all of your goals!!!

I'm so very glad that you've joined the Emotional Eaters Team. The team is a place where you can vent. And where you will receive some awesome support. Of course, I am biased ... it's a great team! I hope you find exactly what you are looking for! Welcome to the team!

Be sure to ask questions if you have them ... someone will likely have the answer. Use the tools SparkPeople provides. They are invaluable. If you feel an emotional eating attack coming on, come to the boards first. Write about it instead of pushing the feelings away with food. We're here for you!

    Eat well, journey well,
