I have had rheumatoid arthritis since age 6 1/2 and have had over 35 surgeries (not all related to it) and I know what its like to have to start over at the beginning again and again. Never giving up has been my life story. I am constantly modifying my activities to suit my body's changes. The severe damage done to my hands and elbows means I can't do serious strength training, but my alternatives have worked for me.
I have had five joint replacements (one failed and had to be redone). Its not slowing me down. I am enjoying fitness classes ranging from kickboxing to Zumba! Surgical recoveries are a nuisance, but with Sparks, I had no weight gain. No excuses when you can track your food!!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Fitness Minutes: 149,746

My Goals:
I want to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle and make sure the weight never creeps back on. I want to be as fit as my body will allow me. I enjoy every minute I am able to move!

My Program:
Maintenance going well. Recovered from an elbow replacement in Jan 2011 (it failed 3 years later and I wasn't able to use my right arm for a year as it went through healing and multiple surgeries) and foot surgery on Aug 4 2011 and am working out like a demon enjoying a free liesure pass to my city's civic centers! Trying out all kinds of fitness classes and loving them!! For a change low income pays! In winter, when I can't go out, I do a lot of home workouts online and DVD's. I also have an elliptical, Swiss ball, step, dumbbells, bands, hula hoop and a skipping rope so lots of options.

Personal Information:
I am from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and volunteer for the Regional Health Authority
I am a single 55 year old living on a disability pension
I am 5' 4" and my weight varies between 130-39

Other Information:
I enjoy reading, writing, playing bridge, seeing action/fantasy movies and helping Mom with her amazing garden (when she lets me). I love going for long hikes with Mom and her darling dog Daisy. I love working and playing on a computer

I enjoy the theater experience but don't get to go often. There have just be a bunch of relay cool sounding films out at the same time, so I figured I'd treat myself. I saw the trailer for "Like a Boss," and it's definitely on my list. I'm excited to see more and more films with women carrying major roles, not just the wives and girlfriends there to flesh out the male characters. It's about time! emoticon

Here's a book my DH really enjoyed and you might too -- maybe the library would order it in for you on interlibrary loan? It's about the pleasure in just sitting and watching the birds that are available, and all we can learn from them. Although I have enjoyed travelling to see birds that don't frequent my own part of the world, have to say it's he "same old same old" that give me so much pleasure. The chickadees at my work feeder who let me know Friday . . . that I needed to refill the feeder!! And then thanked me when I did!!

We seem possibly to have fewer of some birds and more of others -- for example, peregrine falcons and bluebirds have made BIG come backs.

Yes, it's a great idea to let the surgeon know you'd like a cancellation spot -- that kind of flexibility is likely to get you the operation months earlier and save you a good deal of pain. I am so sorry you are suffering.

What a shame about your little movie theater. That seems to be the way more often than not.

emoticon I saw "Knives Out" last night and really enjoyed it. I also saw "Jojo Rabbit" and "A Good Liar" with Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen. All three movies were really well done. It's great to see movies being made that aren't all comic book action movies. emoticon

I would LOVE to see snowy owls regularly -- only a couple times in my life so far!! Although twice, very close to my office . ..

I don't go out birding with the local group -- their birding ventures are generally at a time that doesn't work for me.

And: I'm more of a "bird watcher" enjoying behaviour (even of very common birds) than a life lister . . . going after the really rare ones to check 'em off!
