I am tired of struggling with weight loss. It has come due to unhappiness and depression, having no willpower to hold back when I know I really don't want it. Today starts something new. I've already gotten down the eating healthier habits and exercising regularly, and I do feel better physically, more energy, etc. I've come to realize, however, this journey is not just about eating healthy or exercising regularly (although it is not bad that I have incorporated these things into my life). The journey includes that which is in the mind. Today starts a new focus on making myself happier, not worrying or dwelling so much on things I cannot change, and focusing more on myself. Let's see where this new road takes me.

Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer, most call me Jenn. I have been lucky enough to be thin most of my life, until about 4 years ago, when I underwent two back surgeries (one surgery to remove a tumor, the other surgery to fix a screw up from the first surgery - two surgeries in two weeks on my back). It took a while to recover, so I think that's when my laziness and excuses started. In 2007, I got out of the Navy (military police), and found a job in accounting (desk), so I went from being really active, to rarely moving. I also have a wonderful husband that cooks delicious foods (he, of course, is only 145 lbs). So that's my tragic "how I got fat" story...lazy and full of excuses.

In January (before SP), my sister-in-law took a picture of me loading jet skis in the water. When I saw it, I was horrified -- I couldn't believe it was me!! I started checking other recent photos--holy crap!! It was me! Then I weighed myself, and being 5'4", I weighed in at 179 (calculated BMI - OBESE!!). I had never ever ever in my life ever worried about this, or ever thought I would be here...but I was.

This is what motivated me to start my journey! I have come down from there, but I still have a long way to go! Luckily for me, I am learning so much about health and fitness, and I know I will succeed!!

Continuing my journey to a healthier me, I have now been blessed with a baby growing inside me. I am still eating as healthy as i can, exercising when my body allows.

    i have given up on weightwatchers, the atkins, and all the other fads, being ill 2 weeks before xmas and in hospital on a nil by mouth diet has made me think about my lifestyle , i want to change, i cant afford to be ill emoticon

    I am just coming back from having a baby, and I will tell you it is hard! I was really bummed when my doctor told me not to get my heart rate over 140, and to really dim down my exercise. So then I got off of my excerise all together...

    Now I am starting again, and up 20+, no time for excuses right?

    Good luck, and just remember that you will be able to workout again, soon!
