As I start working on the second half of my century on this planet, I find myself facing health issue that never existed for me before.

I've been fat since I was around 10 years old and morbidly obese (yeah, that's a medical term) for over 30 years. But my numbers have always been fine.

This past year my blood-sugar levels are up, my blood pressure is up, my bad cholesterol is up, and my knees, shoulders, hips, and ankles ache almost constantly.

I keep making attempts at alieviating these problems with healthy eating and exercise. So far, I've lost around 40 pounds and lowered (just enough to stay off medication) my numbers.

The journey continues with stops and starts, and wrong turns and backtracking but I'm getting to where I want to be slowly but surely.

If I could offer one bit of advise to those also struggling along the path to better health, please don't quit. Take a break, reassess your path, make adjustments, and keep going. You can do this!

I'll be happy to walk with you if you need a friend.
