LOL - well - at least the cookies were asked for so I won't have to eat them. And we're delighted that my DiL's parents can be here and part of the fun.
And oh that Messiah performance - man - there was a point, near the end, when the soprano sang I Know That My Redeemer Liveth - and I swear - you could tell she does know! It wasn't just singing - it was ... it was inspired singing - and when the bass followed with And The Trumpet Shall Sound - paired with the trumpet - I thought I'd swoon. I never wanted to stop clapping.
Well - music is always going to be the first art for me. Hope you have a house full of it this season. 18 hours ago

Wow - that is a late date for celebrating, but the celebration is the important part. And it soft of makes Christmas season feel like it isn't going by so fast. We always did the grandparents over New Years and it always extended the excitement for me. DS says he has to work Christmas and New Years - got all the holidays this year. Just his turn. He still likes shiftwork but I bet a time will come when he'll start looking for something more 9-5. With babies the long chunk of time off with shiftwork gives him more baby snuggle time.
As for that crazy German Christmas - well - just one of the utterly goofy things that happens in marriage, I think. And you know - it's the monumental goof-ups that we remember - not the many daily wise good things that have balanced that out. I never thought about how precious it is that 100% of the time I come home with groceries or other shopping, DH unloads the car for me - till I visited a friend who's not-so-D H never lifted a finger - never even came to the door. Heck. He's not even an H any more. so - yeah - stoopid - but forgivable. 6 days ago
