I'm 23 years old, and I've been overweight since I was about 8. I can't remember a time when I was fit or thin. I've never felt comfortable in myself, so I've become very quiet and, well...boring in my adult life. I want for once to not worry about what other people are thinking about me when I do something. I would love to be fit so that I could build up the self esteem that I've never had.

I started making changes to my diet the past couple months, like getting rid of sodas, drinking water (coming from a background where I literally drank nothing but Pepsi as a child, it was hard!) and eating salads for lunch. I decided that I needed to incorporate exercise into my routine, but didn't know where to begin.

I was introduced to SparkPeople while searching for workout videos on YouTube. I loved the features that the website offered, and more importantly -- they were free! My husband and I aren't exactly in the best financial shape right now, so I really couldn't afford to pay hundreds of dollars a month on specially prepared food, or my own personal trainer. I really like how even though the site is free, they don't shove their products in your face. I think that really says a lot about their attitude -- they just want to see people succeed in their goals!

Anyway, I love it here!

I've decided to make up a reward system for myself... so here goes!

210 lbs - Take a day off of work.
*DONE 8/05/09*

200 lbs - Get a totally new haircut!
*DONE 11/05/09*

190 lbs - Get a massage!

180 lbs - Get a tattoo!

170 lbs - Buy a swimsuit....and use it!

160 lbs - Buy new clothes!

150 lbs? - Take a dancing lesson! Like Bellydance o_o !

My Program:
Good old fashioned burn more calories than you eat.

Cardio for 41 minutes 4 times a week.

Strength Training for 15 minutes 2 times a week.

    Hey thanks! Well a looming wedding has been good push for me :P I joined a gym in January, and my fiance and I got some personal training sessions which are pretty intense, and just a whole lot of working out! Also still following WW, and we stopped drinking pop, which I think has helped a TON. Looks like you're pretty close to a massage- hooray! We're doing good! :)

    Hope everything is going well for you- it's been hard to stay motivated when grad school assignments keep calling my name. :( But slowly but surely it's coming off!
