I've come to the conclusion that I lose weight in cycles. I'll be around for awhile, then you won't see me on here for a few weeks. I'm not a marathoner. I'm a slowly-but-surely kind of loser. :)

20 lbs: New running shoes. (DONE!)
30 lbs: New exercise accessories. (DONE!)
40 lbs: New pair of boots! (DONE!)
50 lbs: New clothes.
75 lbs: New tattoo.
100 lbs: NEW TRUCK!

I'm almost 22. I've been overweight since I was 8. I always told myself that the fat was just part of who I was. That was easier than doing what it took to get healthy. The doctor used to say, "You don't look like 280 lbs. You carry it well!" As if that was supposed to be a compliment.

Something clicked for me recently. I couldn't pretend to be happy with the way I looked anymore. I couldn't go up the stairs without losing my breath. I was always tired. Something had to give. I'd tried just about everything I could. It never lasted long and I always failed and gained even more weight as a result. I would starve myself for a day and spend an hour on the treadmill and then expect to see results instantly. I was finally able to accept that there was no quick fix.

I started buying healthy food, packing my lunch, and exercising 3-5 times a week. This time is different. SparkPeople has already gotten me off to a great start. Just from drinking water, cutting out pop, and not eating fast food, I've lost (*UPDATED 12/17/12*) 40 pounds since January 2012. I can't tell much of a difference, but a lot of other people sure have noticed! I can't give up now. I'm on a roll. I've got it this time.

My Goals:
My main goal is to get healthy. I want my outside to match the way I feel on the inside. I want to be happy with who I am. I want to feel comfortable in fitting clothes (not the baggy stuff I'm used to hiding behind).

Short term-- I'm going to take one day at a time, one meal at a time, one bite at a time. I'm going to focus on nutrition and fitness. I'm going to get healthy.

Long term-- I'm going to lose 100 pounds in however long it takes.

My Program:
I try to plan my meals and pack my lunch. I drink at least 8 cups of water a day and exercise for 30 minutes a day at least four days a week. I use SP to track my nutrition and fitness. It's definitely helping!

Personal Information:
I'm Kristen. I'll be 22 in March. I'm a Kentucky girl. American by birth, southern by the grace of God. Haha. I'm definitely a country girl who doesn't belong in this little city. I'm a senior in college. I have one more year and then I'm finished! I work full time at a truck stop and love every second of it. I have my own house and my own car. I'm very independent, which means I'm under a lot of stress. That's part of how I got to be 280 lbs. But things are changing. =]

    I just wanted to say hi and tell you that even though I've been away from SP for the past several months (bogged down with work and stress) I am looking forward to ending the mighty-year-of-challenges that has plagued me this past year and start fresh soon... I may be still a bit scarce around here for the next little while but I did want to let you know that I've been thinking of you and hope you are doing well in life, in happiness, and in your journey.
