____________________December 18, 2011------------------------------

I relapsed so big this year! I gained back all of the 20 pounds I had lost AND I stopped exercising for at least 2 months. I am so disappointed with myself.

However, life hit me even harder this year than last! Some tragedies happened to my family that just would not be appropriate to share in this forum. And so.... I am choosing to believe:

I am choosing to believe I cannot unlearn what I have already learned about nutrition, exercise and mental well-being from Sparkpeople.

I am choosing to believe I am still ahead of where I would have been three years ago had I not "happened" upon Sparkpeople.

I am choosing to believe in not flogging myself, but learning from my struggles and moving forward.

I am choosing to believe the support I found in Sparkpeople last year will continue through my next journey of learning!

I am choosing to believe I will find out what works for me and will be able to achieve my goal of losing 20% of my current weight and regaining my health and energy!

I am choosing to believe in HOPE!! Hope in learning and moving forward! Hope in my God teaching me and comforting me! Hope in my husband, children and friends encouraging me!

Hope in my ability to learn, grow and become all that God has intended me to become!!

I am choosing to believe!!

----------------December 4, 2010------------------------------------
I thought I would update this blog to let you all know how I am doing and how life is currently going since I joined Sparkpeople!

I have definitely learned how to eat better on a regular basis through Sparkpeople. I love the little pie that tells me how much protein, carbohydrates and fats I have had. I have noticed that I feel so much better when my daily food intake matches the pie that is recommended!

I have also learned how to work out pretty well and pretty regularly! I am able to do the elliptical at a pretty good pace for 45 minutes and am able to walk/jog for an hour at a time! Plus!!! I am doing push ups again!! Yahoo!

Since I started Sparkpeople, life has NOT slowed down. I started it shortly after my husband had a heart attack and triple bypass surgery at age 48. Since then, our family has gone through 2 cars being totaled, one emergency appendectomy, one big case of pneumonia, a sprained wrist, and skin cancer! We are now possibly facing foreclosure and possible bankruptcy! Wow!! All in 2 years!

The truth of life is that my husband and I are probably happier than we have been in our entire marriage! We are loving life and our children! I am so grateful to Sparkpeople!! The encouragement I have received here to get healthy and work towards health has been so incredible! As a marriage family therapist, sometimes I have felt isolated in my adventures. Sparkpeople helps me to keep my focus on exercising and eating right so that my attitude does NOT match my circumstances!!

This next year I will turn 50. My plan is to have a wonderful birthday party in Yosemite. I want to be down 35 pounds prior to turning 50! I want to be healthy and enjoy doing things with my family!!

Thank you, Sparkpeople, for helping me to get through these past 2 years!! It has been an incredible ride!! AND the "fat lady" has not sung yet!!!

-------------------January 2009--------------------------------------
As a wife and mother of four who is also a professional, I find taking care of myself one of the most difficult aspects of my life. I truly want that to change. Recently, my husband of 21 years had a triple bypass at such a young age. This event has changed all of our lives. Being grateful and taking life not for granted is one of my goals. I want to be my best for myself and all of those who count on me. It is vital for me to stay strong, more now than ever before.

My Goals:
Goal of persevering on this journey! I would like to lose 20% of my current weight and become more toned. I still have the goal of climbing Half Dome in Yosemite and enjoying time with my family and friends!!

My Program:
12/4/2010 and 12/18/2011
The only addition to the program is that I will enlist the help of a "Sparkbuddy" and I will reach out for coaching if I start to get stuck again.

sparkpeople is continuing to help me maintain an attitude of perseverance! I plan on continuing to eat right and exercise no matter what my circumstances!

I am going to take it slow and go from Spark Diet Stage to Spark Diet Stage... I want the changes to last this time.
